Indochina: From Colonial Rule to the Division of Vietnam

Indochina history is colonial domination, nationalist resistance, and Cold War rivalry. These developments ultimately set the stage for the Vietnam War.

Another great review of Marine!

The Gold Standard for Experiencing D-Day and Normandy

Our 3-day D-Day tour of Normandy with Normandy American Heroes was one of the most meaningful and well-executed travel experiences we’ve ever had. If you are looking for a serious, deeply immersive exploration of the Normandy campaign — not a surface-level bus tour — this is the company to book.

Our guide, Marine, was absolutely exceptional.

She didn’t just recite facts; she tied together the military strategy, human stories, geography, and historical context in a way that made the entire campaign come alive.

It was clear throughout the tour that Normandy American Heroes only hires true experts.

Marine’s years of experience guiding at the Normandy American Cemetery gave her an extraordinary command of the material, and her family’s ties to Chambord added an additional layer of cultural and historical insight that made the experience feel deeply personal and uniquely French as well as American.

Over three days, we visited several museums and received truly bespoke-level guiding at iconic sites including Maisy Battery, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Sainte-Mère-Église, Carentan, and Saint-Lô.

At every stop, Marine provided context and detail that went far beyond what you could get from guidebooks, plaques, or standard tours.

What stood out most was how thoughtfully the entire experience was curated. The tour balanced operational military history with emotional storytelling and local perspective.

By the end, we didn’t just feel like we had “seen” Normandy — we felt like we genuinely understood the scale, sacrifice, and complexity of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

I cannot recommend Normandy American Heroes highly enough.

If you care deeply about history and want an unforgettable experience guided by true experts, this is the gold standard.

Next of Kin 5th Infantry Division tour…

Most amazing experience of my life!

This was the most amazing experience of my life!

Rudy went above and beyond. I am thoroughly impressed with his knowledge and understanding of WWII and also his ability to entertain us, taking us to some of the best restaurants in the country while teaching us about the cultures.

I can’t repay him for his kindness.

I plan to visit Europe with Normandy American Heroes again!

A Life-Changing Experience

We just returned from our time in Normandy-: I was obligated to reflect on how much this experiece affected me. I will carry the memories of this trip with me forever.

Once upon a time, a little girl ran her fingertips over the faded blue and red images on her father’s forearm. His name was Jacques, but even him mom called him Jack. Then, and for decades following, she never fully understood what his service meant to him, and to his country. She could recite the story he told her of dropping out of high school in December of his senior year- a barely 17 year-old boy, determined to avenge the deaths of sailors he never knew in Pearl Harbor. It was his responsibility, he said, to respond to his President when the United States joined the Allies in WWII. He briefly spoke of a shortened boot camp and the difficult voyage to Europe on crowded troop transport ships. He was very proud to have served under General Patton, and always smiled when he talked about actually meeting him, shortly before the General’s untimely death. (Jack was convinced it was not an accident). There were brief mentions, over the years, about the blood in the water on D-Day and how a piece of shrapnel ended his time in Europe in the Ardennes Forest during the Battle of the Bulge. His Purple Heart was his most prized possession. He never shared much else about the war, or how it affected him until later in life. Jack grew to dislike the fireworks that he took his son and daughter to see every year. The yearly Memorial Day Parades in his home town were a struggle. More and more memories seemed to haunt him. However, the birth of his only grandson, just seven years before his own death, reawakened his desire to bring that history forward to a new, more appreciative, generation. He eagerly shared everything he could remember about the war, and the greatest generation, with his precious grandson. Both of them wanted to travel to Normandy to pay tribute to those that landed and fought on those beaches so many years ago. Finally, thirty-three years after his death, Jack’s grandson and his mother, arrived in France and walked the beaches of Normandy.

If this is similar to your story, and you want to fully appreciate the sacrifice your family member made, you are in for a life-changing experience. Everything was perfect! We put on our boots and waded into the waters of Utah Beach. We stood in the rain and meandered through the bunkers. We drove the same roads touched the same buildings as those brave men did more than eighty years ago.

We will always be grateful for Pierre’s knowledge, but even more, his empathy.

Thank you is not enough to Normandy American Heroes.

Great Day with Normandy American Heroes

NAH was awesome to work with.

Rudy was great helping with initial planning.

Shortly before the date the tour was taken by Marine who did an outstanding job researching our goals and working with us to modify our tour.

It was a very long day during which Marine treated us to Mont Saint Michel in the morning.

In the afternoon we were able to visit family at the Brittany American Cemetery as well as sites where he fought and died. Complete experience.

It was excellent.

Our trip to pay respect to an American Veteran
Amazing!

It was exactly the tour we needed.

Rudy asked for our specifications and he met every one of them and more.

He was kind, patient flexible and cared about this experience for us.

He is an excellent teacher and host.

I highly recommend taking a journey with him!

Beyond Amazing!

I wish I could give 10 stars. Rudy and the team at Normandy American Heroes made this entire trip so personal and so amazing.

I was with my husband who was in a wheelchair and Rudy went out of his way to make him comfortable, to make sure he could hear everything, to not rush us at all but to keep everything at a perfect pace to do the things that my husband really wanted to do.

The special accommodations and dietary requests needed were not only taken care of but exceeded our expectations.

In preparation for our visit to the Brittany American Cemetery, Rudy even went days ahead of time and shot pictures and video of the gravestone we were visiting in case the weather was bad that day.

The ceremony he arranged for us was so moving and he even sent us videos afterwards so that we could be in the moment and not worry about taking pictures.

I cannot speak highly enough about Normandy American heroes and Rudy as both the owner and guide.

You cannot go wrong hiring them, they're worth every penny and then some! (Rudy also has a great sense of humor and is a wonderful history teacher!)

The Most Fulfilling Bucket List of Normandy!!

My wife and I spent a week with Pierre of Normandy American Heroes and this experience fulfilled our Bucket List to perfection.

Pierre with his knowledge opened up the best and worst of the allied landings in WWII.

We were not only shown the more notable locations but were also placed in front of far lesser known event locations and told of the far lesser known people and events of those days in June 1945.

From start in Paris to our return a week later, the total experience won't be forgotten.

I booked this tour a year earlier and enjoyed that activity with Rudy and Myles, answering every question and making extremely helpful suggestions.

Finally, Rudy arranged for my wife and I to stay at Hotel Belle Normandy in Bayeux. This hotel and the staff were exceptional in every way. Each day and night at the hotel was just an additional plus to our touring days.

Highly recommend Normandy American Heroes to anyone wanting to truly experience and understand the men and women who preserved our freedom!
