We have just come across this audio guide to help you discover the history of Couches. We would suggest treating the Château de Couches as a separate visit, a short walk up a quiet road from the house. They do their own audio tours in several languages and it’s well worth a visit.

You can walk into Couches along a wooded track. It’s about a 3.5 km circular route and allows you to see all the various historical sites and get a coffee and croissant in the square!

For those of you who are visiting the region because of the wonderful wines, the annual Ronde du Couchois is not to be missed. Four small local towns, of which Couches is one, hold wine tastings at various venues over a weekend (6-7 August 2022).

You simply purchase a glass for €5 and then sample as many wines as you wish. Lots of venues offer delicious snacks as well.

You will need a designated driver if you plan to venture to all the venues but Couches has several, including the Chateau de Couches, and it's only a short walk away and all downhill on the way home!! 🍷
