Jon Hess Archetier, Bowmaker

Jon Hess Archetier, Bowmaker Prize winning bow maker, working and trained in France. His bow are inspired by the French School style of the 19th century.

Born in 1990 Jon soon showed interest for music and first trained as a violinist before turning to bow making. Jon Hess began his bowmaking tuition under the guidance of Gilles Duhaut in Tours, France, where he stayed for 2 years and was taught the French tradition of bow making passed down from Bernard Ouchard. After further training under distinguished makers such as Pierre Nehr, Ulf Johansson a

nd Pascal Camurat refining his technique and style, Jon now has a workshop in Alsace, France. In 2019 Jon was a prize winner at the international bow making competition in Paris.
