You can come by yourself for one of our wellbeing retreats (yoga, pilates, cooking, wine, writing, creative…), organise a retreat to your students, enjoy a private retreat with a group of friends (we have fab instructors i

n our network for you to choose from!), rent the property for holidays with friends and/or family, bring your team for work&pleasure or remote office, invite your business clients to a special treat, organise a wedding, anniversary or bachelor party, and so on… We think imagination would most likely be the only limit! Let us help you make dreams come true and create memories that will last for a lifetime.

The Happy Hamlet est situé dans la campagne jolie et ensoleillée du sud-ouest de la France. Une région étonnante, idéale pour beaucoup d’occasions diverses, privées ou professionnelles. Laissez-nous vous aider à réaliser vos rêves et contribuer à vous créer des souvenirs qui dureront toute une vie. What a beautiful way to start the fall retreat season - and what a precious reminder of why we love to do what we do 🥰

We’re thankful for our group from Switzerland (with a twist of American and Indian and a Finnish VIP visiting the Hamlet already for her 4th time!! 😍). For the smiles, the neverending kind words, and the gooood vibes we’ve been surrounded with all week!

We hope our season will continue in such a warm and wonderful ambiance 🍀💫

Thank you Jade for trusting your first ever retreat to be held in the Hamlet ❤️❤️❤️ And merci to all the special souls for being here and making the Hamlet as happy as it can be 🙏😘

We’ve been dusting the spiderwebs* and polishing the Hamlet for our FIRST FALL SEASON RETREAT GUESTS arriving any minute!! 🤩 Summer rentals are behind us and we’re back to retreats 🤸🏽‍♀️ Ready to rock’n roll with all the exciting program scheduled from now until mid-November (tip: there are still some spots left in some of the weeks should you need a little getaway and spoiling!) 💫🍀💕

And although we say ”fall season”, truth said it’s still very much summer around here: heatwave is gone (for now at least), pool refreshing, birds and crickets chirping! Hope our guests will enjoy everything as much as we do 😎🙌🥰

* Except for this beauty that I would and will not touch - I’ve been staring at it every time I get a chance. Nature wonders that never cease to amaze me! So so pretty, isn’t it..? 😍

Whatever your opinion is about the Hamlet - ”love the countryside chic” / ”too rustic for me”, or ”so wonderfully calm” / ”too silent for my type”, or ”enjoy the slow pace” / ”too far from all the buzz”..

ONE THING REMAINS INDISPUTABLE!

And that is the fact that we have the best, the most fresh & clean, and most importantly very very local ingredients to cook with! Lucky us! 🍉🍓🍇🍐🍎🫐🍆🍅🥝🥒🥕🌶️🫑🌽🫒🧄🧅🥖🥐🧀

I am always excited about my faves ripening in our own garden. Dozens of different fruit to munch on fresh or to enjoy jammed later in the season, plus potatoes and tomatoes, lettuce and green beans, and also all the garlic and variety of onions we need year round is supplied by our Head of Garden 😅👨‍🌾🙌

However, when I go to the market I always feel a little bit like Alice in Wonderland. Not only because ”our supermarket” is full of goodies (and I am not talking only about fruits & veggies & cheese, even the bread & cookies & so much more are out of this world - trust me, the standard size or shape or perfect look are not at all important!). But also because I get to meet many friends who come for their weekly groceries, and I especially love to chat with the producers who’ve over the years become friends, too. Countless recipes have been exchanged, travel tips shared, help given both ways, and even several of Maya’s puppies found new homes right there in Montaigu de Quercy 🥰

Just as an anecdote: Martine (in the first pic with Nico) heard me talking about rhubarb that I miss from Finland (not a typical local treat). She doesn’t bring it to her market stall, but it appears she has loads at her farm. So the following weekend I am greeted with a big wooden crate full of it!! And no matter how I tried (and I did hard!), she wouldn’t accept any money for it.

Could you leave home without your heart singing and a huge smile on your face?! I wasn’t able to! 🤗 And that is the feeling and magic that carries on into the kitchen when cooking for our guests 🫶🫶🫶

🙌 Wellness reset! Recharge for winter! 🤩 Anybody?

”Summer & sunshine” is the current state of mind, but don’t be fooled, winter will come this year, too 😜 Which is why we’re already a tiny bit (read: super!) excited about our fall season which will kick off in exactly a month. It’s going to be a historically long stretch, from last week of August until mid-November! 🥳🥳

And that’s why you should know this! Only three (3!!) retreats (+residence) have some spots left‼️ Quick&simple maths: Less than 10 of you lovelies can still join a sweet stay this year. About last week.. 💕🍀🌟

It’s ironic how the writing retreats always leave us the most speechless and without words 🤭

We’re still somewhere in between reality and the bubble we shared with our beautiful guests - it’s rather overwhelming to have so much goodness around. Despite the (still horrible) heat, there were no complaints, only sweet smiles, kind words, lots of laughs and precious moments. And having my soulsister Katja Kallio right here right next to me makes every day more special 🥰

I guess I could or should just decide that the butterflies in the stomach every time a new group arrives are absolutely unnecessary, because time after time we get to enjoy a lovely retreat week with old and new Hamlet friends. But on the other hand, I think the 🦋🦋🦋 tell a story and have their role, too - if they were gone, something probably wouldn’t be right…? 🤔

So instead, we’re thankful for everything - the butterflies, the wonderful souls, the helping hands (dear .makkonen without whose help - and great company - we would’ve not been able to survive! 🙏💛), all the fun times and good vibes to remember and cherish. Until we meet again, mille mercis & bisous dear darlings! 😘

Some memories never fade - and some superstars stay with us forever, like Monsieur Williams 🌟💕 Searched for a photo to send with bday wishes to my darling friend - this is what iphone offered as search result ☺️ Quite a lucky chick I am - for having these kind of souvenirs in life as well as beautiful friends to share them with! This pic brought a smile to at least two faces today 🙌 And once again, joyeux anniversaire ma belle Iveta Roubalova 🍀🥳😘

PS. This has nothing yet everything to do with the Hamlet. Because without his strong ”seize the day” conviction I am not sure if I’d find myself today happy in the Hamlet 🥰

🥰 The Hamlet feels...

🩵 COOL - long pants and sleeves on again since it’s only 27 c / 80 f today! One (horrible) heatwave survived, and although it would be naive to think there will not be more, right now we’re just glad to be able to enjoy the air that one can actually breath in! 👌💯

🤍 SILENT - our absolutely fabulous guests of last week have left and we’re a bit lost without the laughs and giggles all around 😳 (next arrive for the weekend, so this isn’t either a permanent situation 😅)

🩷 HAPPY - flicking through pics from last week and believe it or not, we had (again!) the most beautiful people stay! 3 families reunited from Finland and New York, the sweetest kids we’ve met here! 😍😍😍 They were a bit too young (4-10 years) to keep as helping hands, but the help & fun company I already got in the kitchen makes me keep my fingers crossed they’re coming back one day..! 🤞🤩😍

🧡 EXCITED - just welcomed our new helping hands for the following weeks, bienvenue Veera, thank you for joining the team! 🙌🙌🙌

🩵 SPORTIVE - we’ve been up late to watch the games and cheered for our team last night. Allez les bleus ! 🇫🇷👏 (I’ve always said football is too slow for me - compared to ice hockey that is - but I think I’ve finally gotten it, it can actually be quite entertaining. Besides I always get thrills from big sport events, must be in my dna and/or career choices in the past ☺️)

💛 THANKFUL - just because, ”La vie est belle !” 💕 We’ve got sunflowers🌻 and waterlilies 🪷 and full moon 🌕 What else could a girl ask for 🥰

😎😎 A tiny summer summary:

🥵 It’s getting (way too) hot in here.. (I assume many of you know the lyrics from there on..) - even the doggies are CALM!! (but don’t worry, they’re ok!)
🥰 I spent the most beeeeaaaaauuuutiful week in Finland 🇫🇮 with my family and friends - such a lucky girl I am to be surrounded with so much love&laughter anywhere I am 💕 (and it definitely was not too hot in Finland 😜) We even sang « suo suo suo » for old tmes sake 😂 swipe to the end if you dare 🫣)
🙏 Feedback from an instructor (returning from last season and already booked for next year), knowing she goes to all possible places I wanted to have her 2 cents on how to improve what we do: « Honestly, don’t change a thing. It really is the most perfect trip. I mean it. I’ve lead retreats at 8 or 9 other locations, and yours is hands down the very best. TRULY!!! » 🙌🙌🙌
🤯 Zaza is NOT exactly « copying » from the other doggies as we hoped: she’s already eaten the foam from a car child seat left outdoors and goofing around way too much we’re used to - some patience required here, from both me and especially Nico 😂🙈
🌻 The first sunnies have been spotted and there’s going to be A LOT all around the Hamlet
👩🏽‍🌾 Our grocery store (farmers’ market in the nearby village) is at its best right now.. the colors, the ambiance, the flavors!!! 💯💯💯
⁉️ Our A/C in the attic just decided to not function moments before our guests for a week arrived. The room was at about 35 degrees so unnecessary to say it was a no go. Luckily the studio in the barn was one of the coolest spots in the property to use as replacement, but we’re equally lucky and thankful that our super nice guests were ok with the new arrangement. (for future guests, a solution - repair/new A/C - on the way so no worries)
🤗 I want to say that this nasty heat is equally horrid and at the same time somehow naturally beautifully slowing everything down - maybe that’s what we need to do..? 🤔

Our current guests fighting the heatwave! 🔥🥵🏊 The pool is 32 celsius / 90 fahrenheit but it apparently feels cold upon going in (because the thermometer in the sun by the pool shows 56 / 133) 😂😂😂

Every movement seems a bit slower right now (the brain as well 😜), and there's definitely no need for sauna these days! We're thankful for our guests' brave attitude - as long as the kids have the pool to goof around all is flowing super well! 💯😍😎
