Our Airbnb season officially comes to a close next week as we’re off to the UK for a catch-up. We’ll be welcoming people again next April through to September. Hope to see you then!

Tonight's entertainment for the Festival Musique et Nature de la Vallée de la Rotja was an open air silent movie in Sahorre (scene of last night's Brian Acton gig...) - with a live accordionist, who played along to the whole hour-long film. A great experience!

It's the village music festival, starting this weekend and running for ten days. There'll be lots of concerts in village squares and churches, but also some in the woods and up mountains. Should be fun!
Chipps will be there as unofficial village photographer again no doubt. :-)

Congratulations to our friend, Regis, who has been voted into the position of Mayor of our little village of Fuilla in the French Pyrenees. He was already Deputy Mayor, but it's a sign of his all-round competence and niceness that means that he gets the (tough) job of mayor until the next elections in a couple of years. At every village event, you'll find him helping out and mucking in, but it's especially heartening for us handful of mountain bikers in the village (all four of us) that he's a dyed-in-the-wool mountain biker too.

Our recent village MTB/VTT randonnées wouldn't have happened without his momentum, and I look forward to having a mayor who can lead a remebrance service for VE Day, but who's also happy to head out for a cheeky bike ride on a Friday afternoon.

I found our previous Mayor, Jean Francois, to be incredibly welcoming and helpful to a foreign couple trying to work out how everything worked, but we always enjoyed telling friends that we had a deputy mayor who rode bikes... Now, Fuilla has gained a mayor who not only knows everyone in the village, but who is familiar with every single little back road, farm track and footpath within 30km. In addition, he can descend those tracks like a demon...

If Fuilla wasn't already the place to head to for riding bikes, it definitely is now...
