We’re delighted to be welcoming Sarah, a freelance journalist writing for National Geographic Travel, who is here to discover the lesser-known Southern French Alps.

She’ll be spending the next few days exploring the region on foot, following Walkers' Britain & Europe walking tracks, experiencing some of the landscapes, trails and places that make the Southern French Alps so distinctive.

Yesterday was a gentle introduction in the Champsaur-Valgaudemar, with a warm-up walk to the Croix de Saint-Philippe: an easily accessible viewpoint at the gateway to Écrins National Park, with some pretty spectacular views for the effort!

When you picture the French Alps, what comes to mind? ⛰️

Skiing? Big resorts? Serious mountain adventures for seriously fit people? There are plenty of misconceptions about what an Alpine holiday actually looks like. Beyond the familiar image, there are wild valleys and traditional villages, adventures for different ages and abilities, and even spring and autumn offer completely different ways to experience the mountains. We’re putting four of the most common misconceptions to the test.

There’s something very special about welcoming guests back to the Alps years later, especially when their family has grown in the meantime. 🥹

Earlier this year, we received this lovely email from a client:
“We actually came on one of your holidays a long time ago as a couple and we now have two young children. We would love to bring them on an activity holiday with you in the Alps.”

And this summer, that’s exactly what they did! They returned as a family of four for an action-packed week of canyoning, white water rafting, waterskiing and Alpine adventures together.

And afterwards, we were delighted to receive this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review:
“Everything was very well organised. We loved all the activities, Bernard in particular was absolutely brilliant with the children. The canyoning was a highlight for us all. The guides from the other companies were also excellent too, especially with the children - We had Ben for the white water rafting, and Yohan for waterskiing. We absolutely intend to return next year!”
