Kuala Lumpur was such a fantastic city too, with so much to see and do - I'll definitely go back for a second visit.

🌍 Around the World With Unwind Away: Poreč, Croatia 🇭🇷

If you’re looking for a destination that mixes sun‑soaked beauty with layers of history you can actually wander through, let me introduce you to Poreč, a gorgeous gem in the Istria region in the north of Croatia. Team Unwind Away absolutely loved our summer holiday there.

Poreč’s Old Town is a maze of Roman streets, Venetian architecture, and tiny squares perfect for sipping something cold while people‑watching. The narrow lanes are full of tiny shops selling local crafts, olive oils, truffles and ceramics. There's even a a UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Euphrasian Basilica.

Just beside the Old Town, you’ll find Poreč’s harbour, where fishing boats, excursion vessels and glamourous yachts all bob together in the sunshine. We loved to finish our evenings having a wander with an ice cream from one of the many gelato shops in the Old Town, each offering a fantastic array of flavours (yes, you should try them all - it’s research! 🍦) followed by a cocktail in one of the harbourfront bars.

One of the loveliest things about staying in Poreč is the string of hotels dotted along the pine‑tree‑lined coast. The coastline around Poreč is dotted with beautiful small bays, each with its own personality. A few are sandy, most feature huge smooth rocks with steps in to the water, some are wonderfully chilled, with hammocks strung between the pine trees so you can sway in the shade while listening to the waves or reading a book. Others are full of energy, home to inflatable water courses that keep kids, teens and fully‑grown adults equally entertained. It’s that perfect mix of relaxation and fun.

Despite the tranquillity of the coast, you’re never far from the action. The Old Town is easily accessible by the little tourist train that runs frequently along the coastline or if you're feeling 'a bit James Bond' a speedboat watertaxi! It’s quick, it’s fun and it means you can glide from beachside bliss to historic charm in minutes.

✨A Little Weekend Quiet… for a Very Lovely Reason ✨

Apologies for being a bit quiet on here over the weekend, I was whisked away to St Andrews by the Unwind Away family to celebrate my big birthday and what a gorgeous surprise trip it was. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Having grown up there (and even married Mr Unwind Away in St Andrews) going back as a tourist felt incredibly special. We wandered through old haunts, rediscovered favourite places and soaked up all those memories that seem to be tucked behind every corner.

And something really struck me while we were there… the number of coach tours in town! I spotted several from my own suppliers, which made me smile and reminded me that not every holiday needs to be far‑flung or long‑haul. Sometimes the best adventures are right here at home, exploring the places we think we already know!

Feeling very loved, very nostalgic, very recharged and maybe a bit old 🤣 but I’m ready to dive back into holiday planning. Thank you for all the birthday wishes and for bearing with the weekend silence 🥰
