A rather nice Sunday read for you: Amelia Duggan was a guest of Live Breathe Hike on a Tour du Mont Blanc in August and our lovely Jason (weirdly referred to just by our surname!) was the International Mountain Leader guiding the trip.

When Suze & Patty booked onto a deluxe highlights hiking tour of the with they never expected quiet trails & so much wildlife. We had marmots & a vole crossing the path in front of us, a large herd of chamois (the biggest I have ever seen!) and on tap Bearded Vultures cruising endlessly on the thermals plus gorgeous hotels at the end of each day. Watch to the end for extended video footage of this majestic bird with an almost 3m wingspan.

NEPAL 🇳🇵 HOW WE CAN ALL HELP:
Paul Poole is, not only a fantastic mountain leader and trainer (he was one of Viv's trainers and assessors), but an all round really nice man with his heart in the mountains. Paul has spent a lot of time in Nepal and has close connections with many of the guides and porters when he runs trips there. Whilst there are some fantastic charities out there, such as the Red Cross, Paul has decided to help those directly affected, including some of his own guides and porters and their families and neighbours in and around the disaster area which includes the region of Langtang.

Jason and I love Nepal and it's people and have spent quite a bit of time there and especially have the Langtang region in our hearts as we trekked there for our honeymoon.

The main village of Langtang was already partially destroyed by the devastating earthquake of 2015 and now it is amongst other areas hit by this latest disaster.

Saturday turned into a boys hiking day but don't worry, Gaia was there too keep them in line 🐾!
Jason took Mark, Karl and Brian to the spectacular Praz de Lys.
Views, beautiful paths, some technical bits, the huge cross of Puc de Marcelly that we can see from Les Gets and, of course, Mont Blanc 🏔.

Our summer hiking season is coming to a close but keep an eye out for our winter snowshoe timetable which we will publish around the end of September when we have finished our freelance work on the Tour du Mont Blanc.

🌧 Absolutely delighted that it is currently chucking it down with rain! The soil is soaking it in, the trees and plants can start to recover (although it's too late for some), the rivers and lakes can refill and the animals, at least, will have their water sources restored. 🌲🌸🦌
Whilst one day of heavy rain isn't going to fix the drought, it is going to help enormously.
And in other news, because everyone is staying in, or wifi is terrible today so the sewing machine has come out to do some making and repairing 👕👖🧵

Such a lovely wander on our Family hike this morning with 2 different families and kids aged 3, 6, 7 & 10! Discovering flowers, butterflies, crickets, birds of prey and families of coots. Eating chocolate brownie and drinking cold squash and then hiking up to the 'top of the mountain' Brilliant.

A fun sporty hike with Lisa and Michaela today. You know when you just instantly click with people? It was just like that. We didn't draw much breath on our many and varied conversations but we did see the fungi 🍄 starting to make an appearance and we did see a squished adder 🐍!
