Spring has definitely sprung here as we both get stuck into preparing for our 6th season of welcoming new and returning guests. It truly is a labour of Love for us that we can share the Beauty of La Roche L'Abeille in the Haute Vienne with you all. We have opened up 5 nights arriving on Tuesday 29th July and 7 nights arriving 6th September for those who have been in touch recently for holidays this year when we are already booked.

UPDATE:
According to the Booking-com webpage we have been given a rating of 10, although our 2025 award says 9.9. (apparently for 2024) This is down to the crazy way they have worked it out. Yes, very confusing! but we are very happy to see our 10 back. Thanks again to ALL our guests!....

Wow! Where did that time go?

This morning we said goodbye to our last guests of the season who arrived as strangers and left us as friends and who we will also be welcoming back again next August. 🥰
It has certainly been an emotionally challenging few months for us with the heartbreaking loss of our darling twin granddaughters and Chris’s sister. However, in some of our darkest moments it has truly helped us by living in our Beautiful Farmhouse here in France and having the Gite business to rise up and remain strong.
Chris and I would like to take this opportunity to Thank all of you who chose to have your holidays with us this year and those of you who have returned and especially those who have already rebooked. 🥰
We will soon be heading away to the coast for a few nights ourselves to recharge and then enjoy our winter months in front of the fire before doing it all over again.

When Chris and I began our new lives here in 2018 it was the start of an adventure of early retirement and one that we have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. We are Proud of how hard we have worked which allowed us to be in this position and even more so of our amazing family of our 5 children and 12 grandchildren who have seen that dreams can come true.
Each new day we continue to Love our Adventures here and especially welcoming guests to our Gite with this year being our 5th season. The biggest compliment being when they book again for the following year before even leaving us, it truly means so much.
So, where is this going, I hear you ask?
Well, due to certain personal reasons from next year and onwards we will be open for the months of only July and August. You can continue to find us on Booking.c and find out more details on our website at www.reidsretreat.com.

We look forward to continue making new memories within our adventures living here and especially welcoming each and everyone of you who choose to come and have your holidays here.

When we have this Stunning Haute-Vienne countryside right on our very own doorstep (literally) we know how very lucky we are and it is a delight to share it with all of our guests too. It truly makes our morning walk something to look forward to everyday. 🥰

We always have lots of Bats flying around the gardens and courtyard so we have placed two Bat boxes today. Hopefully they will be used this year... 🦇❤️

In our retirement we still work hard behind the scenes here at Reids Retreat. So we are happy to now share the outcome of recent projects which have totally transformed our courtyard and barn within.
The lovely barn doors have finally been fitted.
We would also like to Thank El Moreau Jean Christophe for the excellent preparation work carried out in order that Nicolas Gibaud and his team from Eiffage Route Sud-Ouest were able to complete the fantastic tarmac finish this morning!

PLEASE BE AWARE OF UNTRUSTWORTHY BOOKING SITES/PLATFORMS:
When booking your holiday with us or a holiday elsewhere, please use reliable Booking sites/platforms. With our holiday Gite you can ONLY book through Booking.com. It has come to my attention that a new booking agent “EstateAgents1” is doing the rounds & apparently, they added us to their site. This is NOT the case; we have NOT listed or do business with them. This only came to light this morning but on my initial investigations this looks likely to be yet another scam!
