HI all,

I'm often quite amazed at how many important tools are missing on the boats I have the occasion to visit.
During the offshore navigations we've made on the Aureus XV, we've tested a lot of promising tools and gears. I wanted to share with you, this week, the top 10 unconventional tools that would make the lives of their owners much easier on any given yacht.
As Christmas is coming, many of those tools will do great gifts ideas for sailors.

Have fun sailing !

Hi All , the weekend is here. I wanted to share a reading recommendation with you.

I recently read during a navigation the audio version, an audiobook downloaded via audible, of “Love with a chance of drowning”, or the story of a young Australian women, the author Torre DeRoche, who falls in love, in the US, with an Argentinean guy, Ivan, passionate with .

When the latter decides to go for a circumnavigation on his relatively small, and relatively old sailboat, Torre decides to go with him, despite her fear of water and attachment to comfort.

This book is funny and instructive for any wannabe . We plunge into their life, first preparations and then the trip from California to Australia, via Polynesia. A lot of funny anecdotes and interesting descriptions of stopovers in the Pacific.

It’s also an occasion to confirm that whatever you do on a boat, pay attention to preparation and expect some gear failures !

I recommend “Love with a chance of drowning” for those who love offshore sailing and voyage. I think a lot of women might recognize themselves in this girl trying so hard to understand and appreciate her (latin) lovers’s passion, and a lot of men could recognize themselves in a few anecdotes where she describes Ivan striving to cope with gear failures and trying to sound in total control !

The book is available on Amazon in paper, CD MP3 or downloadable (11h30 of fun, with a nice narration). You can download a sample (a few minutes of the book) on this page, but I guaranty you’ll have fun listening to or reading this book.

Here is the book on Amazon, enjoy !

Love can make a person do crazy things. . . A city girl with a morbid fear of deep water, Torre DeRoche is not someone you would ordinarily find adrift in the middle of the stormy Pacific aboard a leaky sailboat – total crew of two – struggling to keep an old boat, a new relationshi...

You can now download the last issue of Sail Republic magazine, with a detailed sea trial of the Aureus XV. This excellent interactive digital magazine is available on iPad or Adroid devices, in both Italian and English.
We were happy to have Sail Republic on board, and we hope we'll grab the occasion to make another sea trial with this team in a good breeze to show how great the boat respond in strong breeze or gale force !

Follow this link and get to the iTunes App of the magazine.

The Cannes Yachting Festival is over. We had the pleasure to see a lot of sailing enthusiasts on-board the Aureus XV.

We also made a few sea trials the day following the show, with the magazines Sail Republic, Mer et Bateaux, and Barche. We'll keep you posted when those sea trials will be published.

Today, I had the pleasure to sail the trip back solo, from The beach of Pampelonne (where I spent a very bad night at anchor) to Toulon, with a great East Wind, between 28 and 35 knots. Being pretty tired after a bad night in a badly protected mooring with strong gusts (20 knots above the weather forecasts) raising in the middle of the night, I chose to sail the "Lazy way" today...I only launched the 115 square meters Code 0 with the electric furler and sailed downwind with the mainsail in it's lazy bag, tacking a few times to remain around 160° from the wind.

As some will notice, the Code 0 is not a downwind sail. Despite this, my "Lazy" sailing trip turned into a very exciting navigation. The Aureus XV was incredibely stable (even without the mainsail) and sailed constantly between 9,8 knots and 13,6 knots (top speed for today). It was such an easy navigation that it would be easy to forget that the wind was blowing up to 35 knots.

This proves the Aureus XV is not only a fast , but also a very easy one, that will deliver good performances even when you're not up to to put all the sails up in a strong breeze and or when you choose to go the "lazy way", like I did today. Here is a short video to prove it.

Thanks for your interest in Aureus Yachts, have fun Sailing !
