Michel, & the Normandy D-D landing beaches, cemeteries, memorials & museums. La Buissonniere is a cosy gite deep in the Normandy countryside, quiet, secluded and tranquil. We are open all year round and offer any-day changeovers to help guests with their travel options. Shortbreaks, minimum of 2 nights, are welcome. Our gite:

• Sleeps up to 4 in 1 double and 1 twin bedroom. A baby can also be acc

ommodated (making 5 guests in total) and we can provide certain pieces of baby equipment including a cot, highchair and potty.

• Offers free WiFi and FreeSat

• Is 90 mins from most ferry ports, 4 hours from the channel tunnel, 5 mins from the nearest village with boulangeries, boucherie, bars, restaurants and small supermarket, and 15 mins from the nearest towns of Mortain, Domfront and St. Hilaire du Harcouet

• All electricity, bedding and towels (1 bath towel and 1 hand towel per person) are included in the rental price.

• Is all on the ground floor, which is ideal for children and may suit guests with limited mobility

• Has a spacious lounge with widescreen TV and DVD player.

• Has a private garden and decking area with garden furniture, sunloungers and barbecue

• Has ample free parking and can provide covered storage for touring motorcyclists

• Is within easy distance of so many not-to-be-missed attractions, including:

Mont St. Michel and the stunning beaches in the Baie du Mont St. Michel
The very moving Normandy landing beaches and military cemetaries of WW2
The medieval towns of Fougeres and Domfront, Chateau du Falaise, birthplace of William the Conqueror (with an excellent interactive treasure hunt which is perfect for children) Villedieu-les-Poêles, famous for its bell foundry
Attractive shopping towns of Granville, Avranches and Laval, with their varied selection of individual shops to suit all tastes. Granville is also a bustling fishing port, and has a huge fixed food market every Saturday. A network of Voie Verte walking and cycle paths, and a selection of rambling routes within a small radius of La Buissonniere

We ventured 'over the border ' into Bretagne/ Brittany this weekend and visited the fab medieval town of Dol de Bretagne. Now, Normandy has loads and loads of wonderful sights to visit in it's own right but if you happen to be wandering along the Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel towards Cancale you can't really help but bump into Dol de Bretagne with it's stunning cathedral, quaint narrow streets and an amazing wine shop to die for 🤭. As many of our Gite guests have discovered, Dol de Bretagne makes a brilliant day out from La Buissonnière Gite Normandie

These lovely bikers left yesterday after a great week in Normandy staying at La Buissonnière Gite Normandie . They loved the brilliant french roads which enabled them to do plenty of sightseeing and loved coming back to the peace and quiet we enjoy all around us here in this beautiful area of France ❤️🍎

British Normandy Memorial

It's great news to hear the poignant 'Standing with Giants' installation is returning to from April for the VE Day celebrations. Set above the landing beaches at The British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, the 1475 figures represent the 1475 servicemen under British command who died on DDay itself. It is easily accessible if you stay at La Buissonniere and several of our guests visited it last year. They were so glad they did, as it is truly worth seeing and not to be missed.

Today we visited the remarkable 'Standing With Giants' installation at The British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer. The Memorial records the names of more than 22,000 men and women who died serving under British command in Normandy between 6 June and 31 August 1944. In this 80th anniversary year of D-Day the 1,475 giants currently on display reflect the number of servicemen and women under British Command who actually died on D-Day itself. A very poignant installation running until 31st August, it is easily accessible from La Buissonniere so if you're hoping to visit the giants and the memorial but haven't booked any accommodation yet we do have some availability in June and August. Just watching Sweden -v- Japan Women's World Cup and notice the Booking . Com advertising around the pitch. I don't advertise our gite on Booking . Com but many gite owners do and they received emails earlier in the summer from the company advising that payments taken from holidaymakers by Booking . Com would be paid late to the gite owners (over a month late in some cases) because they were doing a 'system update'. In the height of the holiday season? Really ?? In the meantime, those gite owners affected have to find other ways to pay their bills and feed themselves while Booking . Com hold on to their money. I'm sure the funding of world cup football sponsorship wasn't affected by a 'system update' 🙄
