The International Dark Sky Reserve around the Pic du Midi de Bigorre will enchant all lovers of the night sky. Whether you visit the Pic, drive up high for some late night star gazing, or stay overnight in a refuge high in the mountains you'll come down with a new view of the world. In Luz St Sauveur the village lights are turned out from midnight to 6am, giving night owls a big sky view from the valley. If you are coming through Toulouse on your way to the Pyrenees a day at the Cité de l'Espace is a mind expanding addition to your trip. The IMAX film on the James Webb telescope is amazing. The lunar landing simulator fun. Every exhibition makes you wonder at the enormity of it all.

You can follow it up with a trip to the Pic du Midi, and some real life star gazing away from the light pollution of big cities in the International Dark Sky Reserve around the Pic. Seeing the Milky Way up high in the mountains connects you to it all.

Last half of my reccie trip checking out walks accessible from the train line between Toulouse and Barcelona. Searching for the perfect combination of walks and logistics ! Vall de Nuria has a tick with its rack railway, pilgrims path, cute villages and lovely forest. This will be part of our Train & Trek package - hopefully up and running for next summer!

Last reccie of the year. For our train and trek holidays. Trying to put the pieces in place, and find the perfect combination of walk, accommodation amd easy logistics. This walk was around the Carlit. Great but long. Heading into Spain today and will test a shorter walk to a different refuge on the way back.

Three days in the Neouvielle Nature Reserve on GR10 and variants and other paths thrown in. Figured out options for longer and shorter routes. With three days GR10 around Gavarnie it will be a near perfect trek combo ! Possible self guided from July - end Sept. For June last week's GR10 trek between the Val d'Azun and Luz is a better option as passes are slightly lower so snow less of an issue in June. Also high pass options for this one if you are walking after mid July. Ask us for details....
