Reccie for the Ordesa Canyon self guided three day, 2 night trek. Best incorporated into a full week on both sides of the French-Spanish border so you can have the full experience of the Monte Perdido World Heritage Area with the three glacial cirques on the French side, Gavarnie, Estaubé and Troumouse.

We'll be putting the full details up soon, but now that I've done it I'm really convinced this is a great formula for a self guided trek - safe and with plenty of options if the weather isn't perfect (or you're feeling less than fully fit).

We will also be offering a guided trek that goes higher (yes, it is possible) staying in higher mountain refuges and crossing from Spain to France via higher passes. Yes - it's good to have a guide when you're higher up - itineraries when there are storms and changeable weather are best managed by the professionals.

Either way, this extraordinary natural wonder, just on the other side of the border, is so worth a visit...
