Stop thinking Cape Town is always busy.

Yes, there are the famous beaches, the packed viewpoints and the restaurants everyone talks about. But just a little further along the coast, you’ll often find places like this — quiet tidal pools where the pace slows down and the city feels very different.

This is one of the reasons I love slow travel in Cape Town. When you take your time, you start to notice the calmer corners most visitors rush straight past.

If you’re planning a trip and want more places like this, you’ll find them at thecosmostraveller.com.

Swartberg Pass connects the Garden Route to the Karoo through one of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in the country.

It’s gravel, winding and completely unforgettable.

South Africa’s diversity is extraordinary.

Despite being new, it feels authentically old.

That’s what I appreciate about Al Seef.
It nods to Dubai’s trading past — wind towers, textured walls, quiet courtyards — yet it was thoughtfully created in recent years.

One street back from the noise and you’re somewhere calmer.
Less performance, more atmosphere.

It’s one of my favourite places to wander when I want a version of Dubai that feels grounded — away from the predictable skyline shots and curated spectacle.

Dubai has layers. You just have to know where to look.

I share more thoughtful corners of the city at thecosmostraveller.com.

Stop thinking Dubai is all new, this is the real thing.

Most people imagine Dubai as glass towers, supercars and record-breaking architecture. And yes — that’s part of the story. But it’s not the whole story.

In Al Fahidi Historical District, you’ll find wind towers, coral-stone houses and shaded alleyways that speak to a very different era — long before the skyline rose. This is where Dubai’s trading heritage, culture and quiet resilience still live.

If you want to understand the city properly, you have to walk here. Slowly.

There’s far more depth to Dubai than first meets the eye — and I share more thoughtful travel insights at thecosmostraveller.com.

There are some mornings when you just need trees instead of skyscrapers.

Dubai is known for ambition, scale, and speed — but places like Mushrif Park remind me that connection doesn’t always come from impressive views.

Sometimes it comes from walking.
From shade.
From hearing birds instead of traffic.

This is the kind of place I come when I want to feel grounded again — not entertained, not impressed, just present.

If you’re looking for calm, local places in Dubai that help you reconnect rather than consume, this is one of them.

I didn’t expect this to be the calmest place in the UAE — but it stops me every time.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque isn’t about spectacle or scale.
It’s about space, light, and how architecture can calm your nervous system.

In a country known for speed and ambition, this place does the opposite.

It slows you down — whether you’re religious or not.

If you’re visiting Abu Dhabi or Dubai and looking for meaningful things to do in the UAE, this belongs on your list.

Sometimes the best way to handle a busy city is to stop… and look up.

Walking across the Dubai Frame feels like stepping between two worlds — old Dubai on one side, new Dubai on the other, and a quiet moment of perspective in between.

I was so lucky to visit the today courtesy of ⠀

However the afternoon ended tragically with the crash of an Indian Tejas fighter shot and the presumed loss of life by the pilot.⠀

A tragic reminder of the immense risks these incredibly brave pilots take every day in the pursuit of excellence and in service to their country and the advancement of aviation. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with the pilot’s family, friends, and the entire Indian Air Force community.⠀

Dare to answer the call to adventure? 🎯 Starting in the charming village of Loutro, I embarked on a mission to find Crete’s best-kept secret: Glyka Nera Beach, also known as Sweet Water Beach. No banishment here, just pure, golden reward. ☀️ Will you be a Faithful and follow for more hidden gems? ✨⠀
