Rome is obviously famous for the Colosseum, Vatican, and Roman Forum, but one of the best things to do in Rome is honestly just eating your way through Trastevere with locals who know the neighborhood.

We booked a Rome food tour with The Tour Guy and spent the evening exploring Trastevere, one of the most beautiful and authentic neighborhoods in Rome. Cobblestone streets, hidden wine bars, family-run restaurants, local pizza spots, handmade pasta, cured meats, gelato… this tour had everything.

One of the first stops was a historic Roman salumeria that’s been serving locals for over 100 years. We tried incredible cheeses, cured meats, supplì, and traditional Roman snacks while learning about the history behind the food culture in Rome.

Then came the pasta. Real Roman pasta. Cacio e pepe, amatriciana, crispy Roman-style pizza, paired wines, and local spots we honestly never would have found on our own.
