Et si (pour une fois) on parlait de ce que l’humanité a de meilleur?
Le spectacle « Humains » arrive à Beyrouth pour quelques dates seulement, porté par son auteur, le slameur Narcisse, qui nous a accordé un entretien juste avant de décoller pour le Liban.

Allez voir cette performance poétique, scénique et technique qui a déjà enchanté, entre autres, le festival d'Avignon. Ce spectacle, c'est un souffle d’optimisme qui fait du bien.

Ce soir, samedi 24 mai, clôture de l'édition 'Printemps 2025' des Musicales de Baabdath. Un concert de musique de chambre très attendu avec en vedette le Trio de l’Orchestre de Chambre d’Amman (ACO).

Karim Said, pianiste et chef d'orchestre principal de l’ACO, artiste en résidence à l’Orchestre Philharmonique National Libanais et au Conservatoire, et associé de la 'Royal Academy of Music' de Londres.

Ihab Jamal, premier violon de l’Orchestre de Chambre d’Amman et chef de la section orientale.

Jana Semaan, premier violoncelle de l'ACO.

Le trio sera rejoint dans la seconde partie du programme par Marwa El Eid (violon) et Sarah Mallah (alto), membres de l'ACO.

Le programme mettra à l’honneur deux piliers du répertoire de musique de chambre du XIXe siècle : le Trio pour piano en sol mineur, Op. 15 de Bedřich Smetana, œuvre profondément expressive marquée par des expériences personnelles, et le Quintette pour piano en mi bémol majeur, Op. 44 de Robert Schumann, célèbre pour sa virtuosité, son lyrisme, et son statut d’œuvre emblématique.

Hidden in the hills of Mount Lebanon, the Ain Trez silk factory stands as a silent witness to a remarkable chapter in Lebanese history.

In the late 19th century, Lebanon was the third-largest silk producer in the world, thanks to thriving factories like Ain Trez. These factories employed countless women and young girls, transforming raw silk from local silkworms into fine threads destined for European markets.

Lebanon’s silk was especially prized in Lyon, France, the heart of the European silk industry. The close trade ties between Lebanese producers and Lyon’s silk weavers helped shape an economic and cultural bridge connecting East and West.

Though the golden era ended with industrial decline and competition from synthetic fibers, Ain Trez and other historic factories — like those in Bsous, Zahlé, and Jezzine — remain powerful symbols of Lebanon’s industrial heritage.

Today, their crumbling walls tell stories of craftsmanship, resilience, and a forgotten economy that once flourished.
