An invitation to join us for adventure
As I am going through our photos from last years trips I am struck by how blessed we are to be able to take our friends/guests on these amazing canal boating adventures through rural France. Traveling by Canal Boat offers a way to see the country from an old and less traveled perspective. We glide quietly through landmark cities, small villages and the rolling countryside. Every town we pass through is approached from the 17th century “back door.”
Have you ever thought of traveling by canal in a foreign country? Neither had we! 10 years ago Carla and I decided we wanted to see for ourselves what some of our adventurous friends had been taking about. After our first trip, we were hooked by the culture, history, food and countryside. We have been eagerly going back ever since.
Would you like to travel through France in a canal boat? Rick and Carla (RC Travel) are hosting three, one-week tours in May 2027. This could be your chance to enjoy a unique travel experience with a small group of adventurous individuals. Carla and I host 4 guests each week. Our boat has 3 unique private staterooms, each with its own “Head” (bathroom and shower).
As a guest on our boat, you will also be an active, participating crew member, helping us navigate the ancient locks and canals. You will also enjoy a mix of dining experiences both on the boat and at local restaurants.
Our boat is currently located in the famous Burgundy region of France. Burgundy is an historic and culturally rich territory in east-central France, famous world wide for its prestigious wines, medieval heritage and rolling landscapes. It is also considered by many to be the gastronomic center of France. Burgundy food is rich, rustic French cuisine famous for red wine-based dishes like Beef Bourguignon and Coq au Vin, along with specialties like Dijon mustard, charcuterie, pungent cheeses (Époisses), escargots, and Bresse chicken. These foods highlight the region's high-quality local ingredients and deep culinary traditions.
