The Champs -Élysées is a great and famous boulevard of Paris. It is considered by many as the most beautiful avenue of the capital, according to a term commonly used in France and mostly by Parisians as "the most beautiful avenue in the world". It takes its name from Elysian Fields, the place of the underworld where virtuous souls staying in Greek mythology. It is also one of the main tourist attractions of the capital. It runs from the "Place de la Concorde" to the "Place Charles de Gaulle" in the 8th arrondissement.
The Champs- Elysées, paradise excess
When you reach the bottom of the avenue “Président Wilson”, you can choose either to make a short hop by metro from Alma Marceau Franklin Roosevelt, or to explore the Golden Triangle avenues Montaigne and George V. It is on these two avenues you can find the biggest fashion houses, whether the cult Balenciaga (at 10, avenue George V), Christian Dior (30, avenue Montaigne) or Gucci (60 Avenue Montaigne).
By the way, you'll come across the “Théâtre des Champs- Elysées” (15 Avenue Montaigne) to the excellent classical music programming. And if you want to give you shivers of golden youth , so do not miss the “Bar du Plaza Athénée” , celebrated as one of the best in the world (25, avenue Montaigne ) and awarded during the ceremony " Best of the Best Virtuoso Awards " in August 2007 in Las Vegas with the award for" Best Bar Experience ".
You can now browse "the most beautiful avenue in the world ", which you will find after the Avenue Montaigne. Must, at least once in his life, to experience the Champs- Elysées . Side shops you will find international channels , as well as prestigious names in particular Louis Vuitton ( at 101 ) , the largest store in the world malletier , which also deserves look for its artistic decoration of the highest caliber . By taking the escalator designed by artist Olafur Eliason for the shop, or the 60 rue Bassano, you will find the Espace Louis Vuitton . Also do not miss Guerlain (68, avenue des Champs- Elysées) with three floors dedicated to perfumes and beauty, and the windows of Cartier ( at 154 ) . For more creations trend is at 66 you go: in the huge concept store housed at this address , all the most fashionable brands are represented, from 0044 to Z- Brand.
Dining in the neighborhood, you’ll be spoiled for choice, provided that you pay the price. On the Champs terraces and moods more or less iconic succeed: the famous Drugstore Publicis near “Arc de Triomphe” (133, avenue des Champs- Elysées), the showroom Rendezvous Toyota has a Japanese restaurant bio the Kaiseki Bento (at 79) and Renault Workshop (at 53). For a more intimate atmosphere, visit Ladurée (at 75), the time to drink a smoked tea with a badge or Flora Danica (at 142) for a delicious lunch Nordic.
Finally, of course, at night, Champs -Elysées sparkle. Walking costs nothing and the show is really up to, especially, for example, during winter illuminations. However, beware of prices and political clubs around because they make little gift if you do not have the right look. Among the most select, you will find “Le Baron”, a former bar hostess tiny (6, avenue Marceau) and among the most connected, ShowCase (under the Pont Alexandre III). You can also try your luck at Mandala Ray (ex Man Ray) or Madam. And still unclassifiable Queen, a few wrinkles but smile.
