STORY TIME 🤗📖✨

This post is for those who are curious about how a twenty-something Australian girl ends up travelling full-time for 2+ years before beginning a new life in the mountains of Bulgaria 🇦🇺✈️🇧🇬

It’s a bit of a long story… but I’ve done my best to condense it down to just 14 photos‼️

Summary: For the longest time I had dreamed of living in Europe and for many years I made it my one and only goal 🇪🇺🫶

After my first trip to Europe in 2018 (on a student exchange to Switzerland), I was convinced my future home in Europe awaited me somewhere in the mountains🇨🇭🏡 🏔️

So when I left Australia in 2022, I wasn’t that sad as to me it didn’t feel like I was leaving home, instead it felt like I was returning home - Europe! 🥰❤️

Now I was originally only meant to be gone for 6 months and I won’t lie, there was a thought that entered my mind a few times… “What if I didn’t go back to Australia? What if I stayed in Europe?” 🤔💭

Of course, this was followed by several more questions like “Is that even possible? What happens when I run out of money? Will I feel lonely and end up going home a failure?” 💰😭

And while I didn’t have the answers to any of these questions, there was an even scarier though that crossed my mind, “If I don’t do it now, will I regret it later?” 🫣🙅‍♀️

So I took the leap and as always life has a way of working itself out. Fast forward 3 years and after meeting the love of my life, I’m happily settled in the breathtaking mountains of Bulgaria 🇧🇬🌹⛰️

I always dreamed of living somewhere where…
💦 The water is fresh and tastes delicious
🍃 The air is clean and easy to breathe
😍 I can see the mountains in every direction!

So beyond grateful to call this place my home 🏡

Did you guess it correctly?

This beautiful Balkan nation is tucked away in the very south-east corner of Europe and is filled with beautiful places that most people never hear about 🤭

With mountains that rival Switzerland and Austria, beaches similar to Portugal and Croatia, and lush forests that make you think you are in England… Bulgaria offers a little bit of everything! 🏔️🏖️🌳✨

Plus, the BEST part - it’s at a fraction of the price you would expect to spend in most Western European countries 😱💸

I never would have thought to visit Bulgaria (had my mum not listened to a podcast and told me about it!) but I’m so glad I did because this is where I met my husband and started my life in Europe 🥰🇪🇺
