This15th Century gites complex, set in a beautiful location and 7 acres with heated pool and lake, is an idyllic retreat in which to unwind and relax.

1st Sunday of the month is free entry to the Rennes museums.
Last time we went to see the exhibition of the Zola / Dreyfus affair at the musée de Bretagne - today we went to the Musée des Beaux Arts.

Mainly paintings and sculptures - a few Gauguin and Picassos but didn't recognise any other artist's names. Interesting though even with that.

Then to Bluebird Coffee shop for a good flat white and almond milk mokka.

Bracing walk today at Dinard along the coast path. (Ice cream included 😋).
It is currently the grande marée - so the coefficient between the high and low tide is very high.
You can see how far the sea has gone out - its unusual to see the sand bar. The windsurfers and kite surfers are making the most of the conditions out there.
You can see the new Brittany Ferry St Malo (i think).
It will be impressive at St Malo tonight with the high tide - it will be coming over the sea wall. Always great to see.

Lovely Sunday afternoon chill at Dinard at the bar Le Carthagène. Looking across to St Malo and La Tour de Solidor at St Servan.
Tides out and looks like there's plenty of people out cockling.

Fab afternoon to walk to Fort La Latte. This is where they filmed some of The Vikings (with Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas) and The Three Musketeers.

Bravo to Nick and Race Organisers (more Nicks hard work though) for getting the lake ready for the Trail Running Race tomorrow and VTT cycle races on Saturday and Sunday 👏

Walking GR34 from Vivier sur Mer to Cherrueix - a bit we had missed. Flat - so easy walking. Lots of char à voile (sand yachting) so if you want to have a try this is a good place to have a go! Funny sign about the area and what to watch for - especially if you find a salt marsh sheep on its back with its legs in the air 😳🤭 lots of windmills along the route - it's a nice route to drive too.

Started walking from Plage du Chateau along the GR34 coast path to Cancale. Passed the Oyster Farm - guided visits from 1July to mid September in English and Dutch. Then onto Cancale for moules and ice cream. (Mussel season has just started). Check out the Oyster market at the pier - plates of oysters ready chucked for a reasonable price. Sit on the steps and throw your used Oyster shells onto the beach. When we got back to the beach where we had started - tide was out and the tractors arrived for harvesting mussels out in the baie. Good end to a very hot day.

Parked the car at St Benoit des Ondes and walking some of the GR34 towards Cancale. Cloudy but very warm. Ideal for walking. Found interesting shellfish places en route - where you can have oysters, mussels and shellfish platters for reasonable prices. Also the oyster vending machine. Walked past Chateau Richeux - the spice shop owners - and it's Michelin restaurant. Ended walk at a small bay, with its chateau and interesting birds on the sand flats. Now to walk back - and hopefully stop for glass of wine and a plate of oysters (not sure what nick will have as he doesn't like mussels or oysters 🤭)

Trip out today for an 'adult' icecream at our favourite place in Dinard at le vent de vanille. Parked at the parcel de port breton and walked to the beach and then the coast path to town. Our favourite outing! Looking across to St Servan and the Tour Solidor and St Malo. We were watching them extract a rogue tree from the see after the Grand Marée this week. Watching the boats go to the islands and down the coast. Catch the water bus to St Malo and back. Lots to do! Hope the sun keeps shining 🌞😎
