'Le Petit Lapin' has had an update! There's lots of new paint, a new headboard in the bedroom, new hooks for coats and a new narrow shelf for bits and bobs under the stairs. There's also a new table and more stylish chairs for a brighter, lighter look, a 'boutique' experience in the French countryside. Here's a preview, but even more new photos are now up on the Airbnb website: https://airbnb.com/h/mycottageinbrittany

The cottage is busy! With the relaxing of lockdown in England and the end of the French 'confinement', guests have returned to 'Le Petit Lapin', which is now booked for most of the rest of the summer and into September. There is much to explore safely in the region, including beaches near Cancale and a nearby forest... but many guests just seem happy to take time out to relax with a book and/or a glass of wine.

The kitchen is finished at last-- whew! It took longer than I anticipated, but everything is now in place and ready for guests: new washing machine, new oven, new refrigerator larger than the old one... and a fresh, brighter look with lights and storage and little shelves that weren't there two months ago. I'm really happy with the result and hope future visitors will be, too!

On this wet and rainy Sunday in Brittany there are still a few finishing touches to do on the new kitchen, so this past week I've focused on the garden. The courtyard and orchard are never at their very best in January, but winter is a good time to take care of little projects that, come spring, will make the entire property look even better. This year I decided to have a hard border put in to delineate the gravel and the grass... voilà!

As I write a new kitchen is going in... offering not only more storage for guests, but a new oven, a larger refrigerator, and a better washing machine-- very exciting! The off-white facade makes the area trendier and brighter, while the addition of more lighting-- including a lamp directly over the cooking area and a little 'reading light' over the couch-- allows guests to illuminate exactly the spaces they want. I am hoping that the result will be even more practical as well as just a bit more romantic. I'll post pictures of the completely finished result very soon and update the entire website to reflect the changes in the coming weeks. For the moment, the kitchen is still not quite perfect... but 'Le Petit Lapin' is prepared for a happy new year and open for reservations!

Marcel, the smallest of my cats, kept me company this afternoon as I swept the cottage terrace in the sunshine. November is generally quite a temperate month here in Brittany and I was delighted to find a purple pansy among the sage and fallen leaves in the orchard.

It's now definitely autumn at 'Le Petit Lapin' and having returned from a busy fortnight in America, I've spent the weekend harvesting apples and pears...yum!

Boutique cottage near Mt St Michel

My little cottage can accommodate 2-4 people and is perfect for a family holiday or a romantic get-away. The large orchard is welcoming throughout the year (children love running about under the apple trees and grown ups can relax at the wooden table or in the lounge chairs with a glass of wine). The terrace is a lovely private space that in spring and summer and autumn serves as an extra, outdoor room. Cosy inside with traditional wooden beans and exposed granite, ‘Le Petit Lapin’ has all the amenities that modern accommodation should offer. Its well-equipped kitchen provides everything a cook would want (gas hob, electric fan oven, lots of wooden spoons and pots and pans), but if cooking isn’t your thing, there’s a list of recommended restaurants only a short distance away in Pontorson or Dol de Bretagne. Both the bedroom and the low mezzanine overlooking the kitchen have comfortable double beds, while the bathroom has an enclosed shower with plenty of hot water. There’s parking in the courtyard right in front of the cottage, and I’ll be here to greet you. I live next door and can be a resource throughout your stay if you have any questions, though you’ll have a private entrance and can come and go and be as independent as you like. Welcome to ‘Le Petit Lapin’!
