Watermill with private pool in the heart of the Dordogne
We bought Moulin Latour in late August of 2017. The property is located at the end of a long drive and sits on the outskirts of Sainte-Alvère, a lively village in the heart of the Dordogne.
Ideal for relaxing, Moulin Latour offers you a wrap-around balcony, large garden, exclusive use of a 12 by 6 metres swimming pool and mill pond. The grounds also include a private riverside path to your very own meadow where you can discover nature or walk your dog. The mill has four bedrooms, three of which are ensuite. The third has a large separate bathroom and toilet. One of the ensuite bedrooms is a studio, which also has a kitchenette. Most of the accommodation is situated on the first floor. The studio is located on the ground floor and is accessed via a separate entrance on the terrace under the balcony. The mill has a spacious kitchen and living room with French doors that open onto the balcony where you can dine or sit and watch your family enjoying the pool. The Moulin has three double beds, four twin beds and three sofa beds - sleeps up to 12 people. Welcome pack includes eggs from our hens. Pets welcome - we love animals!
The area is ideal if you are looking for active holidays. There are countless possibilities for hiking, horse riding, canoeing and cycling. If you prefer a more relaxed holiday you can sunbathe on the Dordogne river's many beaches within easy reach of Sainte-Alvère. The centre of the village is located approximately 700 metres from Moulin Latour. It has a small weekly food market, convenience store, boulangeries, restaurant, bar, post office, tourist office, coffee shop and hair salon. During the summer there are special events such as local fetes, antique and bric-a-brac fairs and wonderful nocturnal markets. The region is well known for its prehistoric sites. Lascaux and Les Eyzies are among the most famous. Car hire is recommended so you can visit the wealth of beautiful places nearby, Sarlat, Limeuil, Bergerac and Beynac-et-Cazenac to name but a few.
