You will have sole occupancy of your gite in a beautiful relaxing countryside location. Vendée, Pays de la Loire, is an extremely active tourist area. Chateau Le Retail is the ideal base for your vacation in south Vendée with easy access to many key tourist attractions - Puy du Fou - world renowned Theme park, 'Green Venice' Marais Poitevin, Mervent Forest with great outdoor pursuits, Futuroscope, La Rochelle, Vouvant and other historic beautiful towns and the spectacular Atlantic coast with it's wonderful beaches and maritime activites, all within an hour away. There is also the amazing Loire valley - famous for its incredible wine and breathtaking chateaux's and gardens. The historic and beautiful towns of La Rochelle, Vouvant and Fontenay Le Comte are all easily accessible, with many local markets and historic sites to visits throughout the area. Mervent forest is only 12km away with cycling, walking, running and riding tracks in abundance along with water activities, climbing, archery, boat/canoe hire and a superb children's outdoor adventure park. Also close by is a zoo and a safe lakeside beach with water slides and picnic area which is manned at all times. Whilst it's necessary to have a car to enjoy the area fully there are many quiet roads and walking paths accessible directly from your gite. Of course you may just want to come for the food, the wine and to spend your time relaxing and enjoying the sunshine and the blissful peace and quiet of life in rural France.
