Spring is the perfect time to explore the valley on foot—no crowds, no snow (at lower altitudes), and plenty of fresh air, flowers, and peaceful views. Here are three great low-altitude walks to enjoy the season:
1. Lac de Montriond Loop + Slate Mines & Viewpoint
A flat, scenic trail circles the emerald-green lake—ideal for a relaxed stroll or picnic. For more adventure, head up into the forest to explore the old slate mines and continue to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the cliffs and lake. Peaceful, easy, and perfect for spring.
2. St Jean d’Aulps – Seytroux – Le Biot Loop
This circular walk links three traditional villages via forest paths, meadows, and quiet lanes. Start in St Jean, walk through Seytroux, up the forest track to Urine and across to Le Biot, then loop back. Expect babbling brooks, blooming hedgerows, and rural charm all the way. Allow 3–4 hours with time for a picnic!
3. Col du Corbier to Mont Ouzon – Ridge Views 🏔️
A moderately challenging walk with panoramic rewards. From Col du Corbier, follow the forested trail to Mont Ouzon. The views over the Vallée d’Aulps, Lake Geneva, and beyond are spectacular. It’s below 2000m, so usually snow-free in spring. A great choice for clear days!
Whether you're staying in Morzine, Les Gets or the Vallée d’Aulps, these walks are a wonderful way to welcome the season. Don't forget your camera & your picnic!
