September – Mid November are ideal travelling months as the worst heat is over and the crowds filling every place of interest are gone. Due to the mild climate in the Deux Sevres, September and even October are still warm enough
to have a trip to the seaside, with water temperatures still over 20 in September and hardly under in November. The evenings and mornings are chillier, but during the days air temperatures can still being in the high 20s in September,
low 20s in October and high teens in November. These are ideal conditions for sightseei,ng tours to the famous Chateaux, medieval towns and unique churches or for the more energetic for cycling, hiking or riding tours.
With fall arriving the grape harvesting starts and there are wine tastings and festivals everywhere. One of the major events is Grape Harvest in Saumur from the 23.-30. September with the Harvest Festival at Saumur Castle on the
30th September featuring lots of events and attractions in and around the castle and even the entrance to the castle is free.
Another big attraction of a total different kind is the world famous La Rochelle Grand Pavois from 26th September to 1st October. This boat show attract no less than 100,000 visitors each year to admire 750 boats.
Horse enthusiast will get spoiled in Saumur
13-16th September: Concours de Dressage International Officiel – Grande Semaine de Saumur - Grand Week of Saumur with dressage and other horse presentations
29-30th September: Au couer du Grand Manege de Saumur - A poetical moment wthin the main arena, where master riders will evoke the riding spirit of Saumur
as well as the excellence of the French equestrian tradition.
19th-21st October: “Les Musicales” du Cadre Noir de Saumur – The 2018 season will close with the Musical gala offering the magic of live music accompanying the horses and master riders of the Cadre Noir.
