A short trip along the banks of the Loire will bring you to St Mathurin sur Loire. Cycle there, stop off for coffee (or something stronger) at La Gabare, admire the magnificent church or simply wander the streets with its art and antique galleries or visit the brocante or a restaurant. It’s a village with surprises around each corner.

A beautiful little cottage. A very relaxing space in serene surroundings where we felt right at home. The Loire was on our doorstep and there were plenty of pretty villages and towns to explore. Would highly recommend. 5* E&M - Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

La Petite Maison is tucked beside the old convent in the charming village of Trèves, just steps from the banks of the Loire River. When the water is low, a short walk leads to a quiet river beach—perfect for peaceful moments by the shore. The area is a haven for birdlife, with regular sightings of swallows, swans, cormorants, herons, egrets, and the elusive kingfisher. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a rare ibis, vibrant bee-eater, or a soaring osprey.
