Set within 5.5 acres of landscaped grounds including a 1.5 acre well stocked fishing lake, orchard, sun terrace, games area and pool. The 400 year old farmhouse is set within 5.5 acres of landscaped grounds including a 1.5 acre well stocked fishing lake, orchard, sun terrace, games area and pool. Sleeping up to 8 people it is all exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. The Charente is the

second sunniest region of France so we have obviously placed plenty of emphasis on the outdoors. This might be a relaxing walk around the lake or exploring and taking in the abundant wildlife. It could be laid back on a lounger, soaking up the sun, or floating on a ring in the pool while you read a book. You can exclusively fish the spring fed lake or if you fancy something a bit more sociable you can sit around the BBQ and play any number of outdoor games. The lake is stocked with a head of carp to over 30lb and growing. There are also sturgeon, grass carp, tench, pike and roach. This is a holiday destination for the whole family. The living room comes complete with full SKY TV, so there's plenty of sport and several movie channels available including the football and F1, plus all the usual children's channels including Disney. Upstairs there is a second TV with an Xbox 360 and plenty of games as well as another DVD player so there should be disagreements regarding what to watch. The kids room also comes with an assortment of games and books. The games room comes complete with a full size snooker table and dart board while the sun room is equipped with nothing but pleasant views, plenty of light and big window sills or sofas on which to chill and catch up with some reading. The house is available all year round and comes complete with full central heating as well as a log burner in the main living room. We have tried to take the best we have seen from our years of holidaying in France so we hope you'll want for nothing. Bedding and towels are included so you can travel lighter and we have a dishwasher and washing machine plumbed in as well as all the usual mod cons. The kitchen comes complete with cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle, coffee maker and Tassimo. The house is located on the border with the Dordogne and Limousin. If you like the outdoors then you are in the heart of some beautiful countryside, the Perigord Limousin National Park is only 300 metres away and the area is crossed by fantastic cycle routes. You are only 10 minutes drive away from the great lakes of the Upper Charente and their beaches, watersports and restaurants. If you need a little bit of retail therapy you are only 15-25 minutes drive away from the picturesque towns of Montbron, Rochechouart and Chabanais but if you need something larger you are only 45 minutes from Angouleme and 50 minutes from Limoges.

We've had a busy couple of weeks in the lake, around the lake and throughout the grounds. We've made a number of improvements to aid the general fishing of the lake or the accessibility. In the last two weeks we've...

- Drained and netted the lake, counting and weighing the stock. We've 2 x 50lb carp, 3 x 40's and 16 x 30's with many upper 30 that will be pushing beyond 40 over the next year. There's plenty of variety with commons, mirrors, ghosts, ghost commons and grass carp. We've left one sturgeon in, a mandarin catfish and a dozen pike weighing up to almost 20lb.
- Installed a new diffusion pump across the lake, to oxygenate the lake 365 days a year and encourage feeding and activity, especially in the warmer months. The pump uses a super silent compressor that pumps air up to the surface through diffuser membranes situated on the lake bed. This allows air to travel up to the lake surface, entraining water, breaking through the thermocline layer and reducing the risks of thermal stratification. In other words, it naturally oxygenates the lake water and increases the dissolved oxygen levels. Each diffuser circulates an approximate volume of 11,605 litres of water per minute at the depth of 2m and we've 5 diffusers across the lakebed.
- Cutback and removed all overhanging trees and snags.
Raked the lakebed to remove and fallen branches and twigs.
Strimmed and cutback all banks around the lake to increase areas to fish from, especially if you fancy stalking.
- The main swims, on the island, have been levelled and landscaped to increase the area to fish from and improve the area for playing and landing fish. It's comfortably easy to set a couple of bivvies along with all your tackle.
- Built a new pathway down to the island, using railway sleepers to improve footings during wetter, winter months.

Latest addition to the lake, a 55lb common carp. All being well she should soon hit 60lb with regular feeding. Photos to follow plus details of a range of 25-35lb carp added and some ghost carp and koi cross breeds.
