For their first time at La Germondière, Jenny and Robin absolutely smashed it. This isn't even all of their catches! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you both and we are delighted that you enjoyed your week chez nous. Thanks for letting us gatecrash your night out and for leaving the gîte so spotless. Nothing pleases us more than seeing how our customers love our paradise as much as we do. And not just for the fishing, it's about the love for nature, the peace, the exclusivity in such a beautiful location - for the whole family to enjoy, 2 or 4 legged. These guys have barely left the lake, moonlight fishing, BBQ and even pizza takeaway from Le Snack des Effres waterside. We are so pleased that you've enjoyed your second visit here Stéphane, Virginie and Thor - because sometimes going back somewhere doesn't deliver as much as the first time. It's been very much our pleasure to host you again.

Just a reminder that it's the FLIP (kids games etc.) festival in Parthenay from 9-20 July. Restaurants will get very busy and parking can be a challenge if you are heading to Parthenay.

The picture is a little blurred... The grass carp continue to put on weight, this one is greedy. 45.7lbs. And a 33lb common - although the least catches in a day so far, still not a bad day for Stéphane in this heat.

In Western France, in the beautiful countryside of Deux-Sevres, Secondigny is a pretty town with a peaceful way of life. It lies between the Secondigny Forest, an area of beautiful woodland trails and nature reserves, and the Gatines, known for their rolling meadows and apple orchards.
We provide self-catering accommodation in the Gatine countryside, yet you are only 1.5 miles from the town which is well equipped with all you need. We also take self-sufficient campers (motor homes and caravans).
Tranquility, walking, painting, fishing, finding zen or simply relaxing in the "sunniest region in Western France", our two gites in La Germondiere are your ideal getaway.
About us..... Simon & Julie.... In our ‘past lives’ we were a very busy couple who loved to party and took loads of holidays. Simon with his very successful ceramic tiling business, and Julie’s IT Project Management career meant we had a reasonable income, but like many, work was the focus of our lives, and stress played a big part. After a life changing close encounter with the 2004 Tsunami in Thailand we didn’t take long to decide there was more to life than money, status, image, fast cars. So we left our respective jobs, and went on a 4 year European adventure in our motor home, with our two boxer dogs. It was during this time that we truly fell in love with France and the life it could offer us.
In 2011 we sold our UK property, and went on our search for a fishing lake in France. It didn’t take long.... we moved into La Germondière in January 2012, and from then on have lived our lives in our own corner of paradise, living each day to the max !
We sincerely look forward to sharing our special place with you.
