Le Moulin is surrounded by tranquil countryside - overlooking a mill pond with water birds at the front and your own relaxing garden with the sound of flowing water at the back. Although rural, it's only 10 minutes' drive from the pretty town of La Mothe St Heray and Carrefour Contact supermarket is 8 minutes' drive. The town of Saint Maixent L'Ecole which has a selection of good restaurants is 20
minutes away and in 45 minutes you can reach the cities of Niort and Poitiers and the major attraction of Futurescope. The picturesque port of La Rochelle is just over an hour away. We've attempted to maintain the character of the original building while providing modern comforts. Downstairs there's a large beamed living room with woodburner, stone floor and rugs, furnished with a mixture of antiques and soft sofas. You'll find a flat screen TV with English channels, a DVD and CD player as well as a small selection of books and board games. Next to the living room is a well-equipped kitchen with range-style electric cooker and all the equipment you would expect and a door opening on to the garden. The separate dining room seats 8 comfortably and houses dressers filled with plates and dishes. There's also a downstairs WC. Upstairs there is a spacious landing, two bedrooms with king sized beds, one double, one twin and a dressing area. The bedrooms, each named after a local village, have wooden floors with rugs and comfortable beds. All except the twin have mattress toppers which you can remove if you prefer a firmer bed. There is a spacious shower room, a fully tiled bathroom with bath and shower cubicle and a separate WC with vanity unit. The bedrooms split naturally into two areas and would suit couples and multi generational families. The garden divides into several sections which you can use according to your mood - a sunny barbecue area near the house, a petanque court, a shady lawned area near the stream and a wild area with fruit trees. It's packed with wildlife and on clear nights the stars are amazing as there's little light pollution. There is a barn attached to the house which has wooden flooring upstairs and you can use this to store your cases after you've unpacked. Fans and heaters are available. Is Le Moulin for you? It's ideal for those wanting a restful and comfortable stay in a house with character that is within easy reach of historical sites and pretty market towns. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the countryside and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in Saint Maixent, Poitiers and Niort. As there is running water in the garden the property is suitable for families with older children. We ask you not to smoke - but we do welcome a well-behaved dog. Satellite wifi will be available from April. We are currently having an in ground pool installed which should be available from May.
