A common question we hear from clients ahead of their first trip to our beautiful country is what is the tipping culture in France.

Tipping in France is different from places like the U.S. – it’s not expected in the same way, but it’s still appreciated. In restaurants, service is already included in your bill! A 15% service charge (called service compris) is built into menu prices by law. For other services, there is no obligation to tip, but if you are particularly happy with the service, then feel free to leave a small gratuity.
