🇬🇧❣️☕️ London is my place. It always has been!! I land and I exhale. I know where I am and what to do. I had a couple of extra days that I tacked onto the NoteWorthy trip and I got to do some things that filled my cup—theatre, certain restaurants, walks, shopping—and some new spots that are on my radar for clients….

I also got to meet some of our hotel and travel industry partners AND I was thrilled to get hard hat tours with three new luxury hotels on the London scene.💥👷🏻‍♀️🏨 .clementlondon I actually got to meet the amazing Nick Jones in the walk through of St Clement!! 🤩

🍽️👑 But walking into and meeting was the highlight of the week—Mr. King is a national treasure and I had to ask him for a photo. I am so thankful for everything he has done to create amazing spaces where people want to eat/drink in London and to prize and promote British food and hospitality. His restaurants are gold and so is he.🌟🌟🌟

🎟️Theatre: Sadie Sink & Noah Jupe were incredible in Romeo & Juliet. And I LOVED seeing our dear Lord Grantham in Shadowlands.

🩶 AND speaking of the Granthams, I was thrilled to learn about “chatelaines” on this trip. Mrs. Hughes wore these in Downton Abbey—a belt from the Victorian era which had multiple hanging chains with little tools/accessories—there are so many little sterling silver AMAZING collectibles that were on these belts. Stamp cases, matchboxes, scissors, needle cases, thimbles, etc etc. The one I have pictured is a “sovereign case” which opens and holds an antique sovereign coin, like the most beautiful wallet ever (and which I will use as a pendant)!!🙌🏼

If you’re still reading, you really are one of my people 😂😂 and thank you. Bottom line, if you haven’t been to London lately, put it on your list—it NEVER disappoints!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Had a BALL in London prior to the NoteWorthy events for a little time on my own and my dear friend of 25+ years, Suzanne (from our Belfast days) was able to join me for big hugs and a long overdue catch-up!!💓🤗

We strolled Marylebone High Street and Pimlico Road and it was one continuous chorus of ((gasp!!)) “Look at that!” ((gasp!!)) “And that!!” ((gasp!!)) “And that!!”🤩 Oh my stars the carpets, the antiques, the fabrics…🥹😩

🛏️🛎️Continuing the joy was our dream-worthy suite which we had the thrill of pretending was our London “home” for a couple of days….🙏🏼💫

🔥Finally made it out to The River Cafe in Hammersmith for an early dinner and caught a saturated sky sunset over the Thames—glorious.🧡💛🧡

Loved exploring all of these London neighborhoods with my friend. Great reminder to venture off the beaten travel path whenever possible🔀 and that 24 hours with an old friend is worth its weight in rubies.❤️

Paris spring break with our senior girls!🇫🇷🙌🏼🎓 These three have known each other since kindergarten. I advised them and their friends in middle school, “When y’all have to choose a language in high school, choose the language of the country you want to visit someday. Obviously, this answer is France.”😂

In a sea teeming with Spanish students (only Spanish and French are offered at our high school and most take Spanish), be different—TAKE FRENCH!!📚 I said whoever takes French in high school, we can go to Paris your senior year. Well, the girls got to high school and these three did indeed go against the flow and took French.🫶🏼 We never talked again about Paris for four years…until this past fall at a soccer game. I said, “Would yall want to go to Paris??” and the answer was “OUI OUI!!”👏🏼❣️👏🏼

We lost the first day of our trip thanks to airline drama (yall, please heed this warning to purchase travel insurance🙏🏼—love, your friendly travel advisor) but we made up for it by going 90 to nothin’ the rest of the days.

We headed home EXHAUSTED in the best way—🚲bike rides, 👑Versailles, 🖼️Louvre, d’Orsay, 👩🏻‍🍳pastry class, 🔍flea market, 🛍️shopping, ☕️tea time at Le Meurice (magnifique!!), 🛥️a freezing Seine cruise and 🥐savoring every bite of everything.

👋🏼💔 Au revoir, Paris!! Au revoir, jambon beurres! Au revoir, croissants! Au revoir, croque monsieurs! Merci beaucoup for all the memories!!😘😘

I woke up in a cozy hotel room across the street from Central Park on Monday morning during the Blizzard of ‘26, and I got to walk around this glorious Narnia for a little while. It tugged at my Southern girlhood winter dreams.

🛟🎄The Boxwood Sets Sail crew rounded out our time together with a stop in Strasbourg🇫🇷🥖—half-timbered HEAVEN🙌🏼, sooo charming! We did not have long enough here. You could easily stay a couple of nights in this town and our group agreed it was the best Christmas market shopping of the trip.🛍️

The final morning we disembarked in Basel, Switzerland🇨🇭and bid farewell to the lovely crew on the Riverside Debussy and kept a stiff upper lip as we mentally made the shift back to life without butlers at our beck and call.😩😂 Ahh, the good life!! Ivan and Elvin, you were amazing!🫶🏼🤵🏻‍♂️🤵🏻‍♂️🥇

From Basel, the group split a few different ways 🔀 with some staying in Europe for post-travels, two leaving from Basel airport and a group of 8 who continued onto Zurich for one last night and an incredible final dinner together! We loved exploring Zurich including a private walking tour and lunchtime concert at Tonhalle Zürich, which elevated the entire day. I walked out wanting to subscribe to the symphony back home!! So awesome.🎺🎻🥁

All in all, I think most in our group would give this whole experience a 10/10 and there’s already been talk of going back and doing a different cruise to hit some new markets!🛳️🎄 Some of us initially worried about being gone in December, but it was honestly the most Christmassy thing we possibly could’ve done and we were in such good company—it was such a GIFT and allowed us to relax and focus on the joys of the season in such a happy way.🎁

🎄❣️Merry Christmas, friends!!❣️🎄 Thanks for following along. Wishing you all a special and lasting joy as you celebrate with your loved ones this year!! If this has made you want to do a river cruise in 2026 or 2027, the Boxwood team is here for you!! DM or email [email protected] to get started. Let’s get you booked before prices go up for 2026.👏🏼👏🏼

🛳️🎄Days 5 & 6 on Boxwood Sets Sail: Christmas Markets! Rollin’ on down the Rhine….🙌🏼 We docked in Frankfurt and picked up a few new members of our group for the second half of the cruise—the amazing Wyatt ladies!!

We explored Mannheim, Frankfurt and Speyer🇩🇪—and some of us took the optional excursion to Heidelberg, which happened to be the most beautiful weather day of the trip! Blue skies which ended in PINK skies dotted with twinkly Christmas lights.💙➡️💓🌟💓

🏰🍴In Frankfurt, I invited anyone in the group who wanted to come with me for an exclusive site visit and lunch at the stunning new opening of The Florentin hotel —a gorgeous 5-star and restoration by of the historic 1901 Villa, residence of the prestigious Beit von Speyer family, now luxury suites and event spaces—all our design lovers were so impressed!!😍

🛳️ 🫶🏼And after busy days touring/shopping/indulging in treats—homemade linzer cookies from Cafe Gundel and the sipping chocolate🍫☕️ (aka liquid pudding) at the Heidelberg market will live on in our dreams🥹—we loooved coming to back to the beautiful and cozy safe haven of our ship and suites! Ending days with relaxing dinners and exquisite food/service around the table was such a gift—experiencing the true luxury of time, connection, conversation. Such a great way to travel with friends/groups but also families/multi-gen!

The magic continues!!💫🎄💫 Days 3 and 4 on our cruise entailed stops to tour the beautiful Schwetzingen Palace and gardens and the Christmas market in Mannheim—and they played Grown Up Christmas List 🎶🙌🏼 over the loudspeakers at the Christmas market in Schwetzingen and Heather and I got tears in our eyes!!🥲 A small taste of home in this beautiful and special place. We have been so blessed by the giant nativities which receive a prime viewing spot in all the markets.✝️🎄🙏🏼🌟

And the most amazing tour of the Gutenberg press and original Bibles by Jean-Luc, our most passionate, articulate guide to help explain the genius of Gutenberg and his accomplishments to distribute the Gospel to the rest of the world. He could print 300 Bibles in a year where previously it would’ve taken 3 years to hand copy ONE. The right guide makes ALL the difference!📜📖

It’s all moving so fast and we are loving every moment!🎄🎄🎄

🎄🛳️❣️The first two days of our very first Boxwood Sets Sail “friends and clients” journey for our Christmas markets river cruise down the Rhine have been everything!!! We are all such happy campers!! If we had to go home tomorrow, it would’ve been worth it.

We LOVE our ship 🙌🏼 and experiencing the magic of the Christmas markets.💫 We embarked in Düsseldorf and then visited Koblenz the second day—some of us went antiquing and some went on cultural excursions with local guides. Culinary on the ship has been 10/10 and we have not shied away from indulging in treats at the markets.🏆

One of the most relaxing ways to travel—I am SOLD on river cruising (especially with Riverside)!! I’m telling you right now, this will not be the last! Get a group together and message us .travel.design to put a quote together—you will not regret it. More to come….⚓️🎄🌟

Loved exploring Aix en Provence before I attended ILTM Cannes this week—I drove around France listening to Christmas music (because of course) for two days and it was a tease—not nearly long enough! I shall return…🇫🇷🙌🏼❣️🎄🎻
