These wonderful sisters-in-law from Arkansas asked Chef Alejandro for a final picture under the magnificent Basilique Saint-Sernin — the 7th and last stop of our tour.

What we love most about this job is connecting with amazing travelers from all over the world, sharing food, wine, cheese, charcuterie, baked goods, and a genuine curiosity to dig deeper into the fascinating history of our Pink City.

We’re feeling truly blessed and grateful — being surrounded by such lovely guests means the world to us. 💜

On Thursday morning we joined another fascinating city walk with the Office de Tourisme de Toulouse (), this time exploring the Saint-Sernin neighborhood.

Led entirely in French by one of their incredibly knowledgeable guides-conférenciers, the 2-hour tour Le Quartier Saint-Sernin took us through Notre Dame du Taur, the old Cordeliers convent, la Tour Maurand, the old Chapelle des Carmélites, and of course the crown jewel — the breathtaking Basilique Saint-Sernin. This UNESCO-listed treasure is the largest Romanesque church in the world and the most important French stop on the Camino de Santiago.

In the Middle Ages, an average of 2,000 pilgrims passed through here daily to venerate the relics of Saint Sernin before continuing their journey to Santiago de Compostela.

Fun fact: it’s also the final stop of our Toulouse Food & History Tour with a Chef! If you’d like to wander these historic streets and hear their stories in English — all while tasting the region’s best flavors — you can book your spot on our website.

Yesterday’s tour kicked off at our first stop: the stunning Hôtel d’Assézat 🏛️
Here’s Chef Alejandro sharing the fascinating story behind this Renaissance gem — one of over 200 hôtels particuliers in Toulouse. Most were built in the 1500s by merchant families who made their fortune exporting “Le Bleu de pastel,” a precious blue dye extracted from the local plant isatis tinctoria.

If you’d like to dive deeper into the history of La Ville Rose while tasting some of our most iconic regional flavors, join us for the perfect one-morning adventure to discover the city’s wonders.

On Monday we joined a walking tour called Toulouse à la Renaissance, organized by the local tourism office — and it was a real treat.

We explored stunning Renaissance mansions, admired proud towers and intricate limestone façades built during the 16th and 17th centuries, and dove into the urban transformations that followed the golden age of pastel.

If you understand French, we absolutely recommend checking out — they offer dozens of top-quality walking tours all over the city. Just hop on their website and book one that sparks your curiosity!

We kicked off the day with a little indulgence: our favorite kouign-amann in Toulouse 🤤

This pastry hails from Brittany, and its name means “butter cake” in Breton. And it is exactly that—made with laminated dough, folded again and again with sugar and butter, then baked until it’s golden, caramelized, flaky, and irresistibly rich. Layers of crispy edges meet a tender, buttery center… heaven!

These gems come from Salon Cacao’T (21 Rue Charles de Rémusat), just around the corner from Place du Capitole. They’re the work of Gwenn Lanoë, a Breton-born master pâtissier who’s been perfecting his craft for over two decades. After training with some of France’s best (yes, M*Fs!), he opened this warm and welcoming tearoom in 2019—and we’re so glad he did.

📍Go try it if you’re nearby—your tastebuds will thank you.

This morning, we gave ourselves a little treat: the best Kouign-amann in Toulouse (at least according to our sweet tooth 😋).

For those unfamiliar, Kouign-amann (pronounced “queen ah-man”) is a caramelized pastry from Brittany in northwestern France. It’s made from a laminated dough similar to croissant, but with more butter and sugar folded in—resulting in a crisp, golden crust and an ooey-gooey, buttery interior that’s pure indulgence. Think of it as a caramelized cousin of puff pastry!

These beauties are crafted at Salon Cacao’T (21 Rue Charles de Rémusat), just steps away from Place du Capitole. The magic is the work of Gwenn Lanoë, a master chocolatier and pâtissier from Brittany with over 20 years of experience. After earning his Brevet de Maîtrise and training alongside M*F chefs, Gwenn opened his own pâtisserie in St-Simon before launching this charming salon de thé in 2019. His creations are thoughtful, balanced, and rooted in tradition with just the right touch of creativity.

This morning we picked up our chocolatines for the first stop of our Toulouse Food & History Tour from Sandyan—the outstanding boulangerie-pâtisserie by Yannick Delpech, one of the most renowned chefs in France and a pioneer of Toulouse’s modern culinary scene.

We’re big fans of their viennoiseries: crisp and flaky on the outside, perfectly layered and airy inside with that signature honeycomb crumb—light, buttery, and always fresh out of the oven.

Their chocolatines easily rank in our Top 5 Best in Toulouse. Want to know the other spots that made the list? Read our blog post:

Even after a morning full of tastings and live platings for our guests, we still get excited to cook at night 💪🍷

Last night’s dinner was one of the most comforting classics from Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France, near the Swiss border: Saucisse de Morteau avec lentilles à la paysanne.

✨ The Saucisse de Morteau is a smoked pork sausage with IGP status, made exclusively in the Jura mountains using traditional methods. It’s smoked for at least 48 hours in towering chimneys called tuyés, using local sawdust, which gives it that distinct, woodsy aroma and deep flavor. We got ours from the legendary at Marché Victor Hugo.

🌱 For the lentils, we used the prized AOP green lentils from Le Puy in Auvergne — known for their nutty flavor, delicate texture, and ability to hold their shape when cooked. They’re the Rolls-Royce of lentils and the perfect match for this dish.

There’s just nothing like comforting French grandma food to end the day 🥹🧄🫶

🚀 Did you know Toulouse is Europe’s aerospace capital and home to Airbus, the world’s top passenger aircraft manufacturer?

📈 It’s also the fastest-growing city in France, thanks to this booming industry. But… how did a city nestled far from Paris, near the Pyrenees, in a windy corner of southwest France, become a global aerospace hub?

At stop #4 of our tour, right at Place du Capitole, Chef Alejandro dives into this fascinating story — with a visual throwback to the early days of Aéropostale, featuring a plane flying above the Andes 🛩️
