“After spending several weeks Spain and travelling back up to Northern France we decided it was time to stop for a few nights and despite only one days notice we were very relieved that the L’Ancienne Etable just outside Montmoreau was able to accommodate us for 3 nights.
This charming gite was perfect for a short break and for us to take stock. It was in a lovely peaceful location and so well equipped that we wanted for nothing. It has been renovated to a very high standard and was so very comfortable and the most well equipped rental we have ever stayed in during our 20 years of renting in France. We knew the area fairly well so no need to explore but just revisited a few favourite places. As it was very hot we just relaxed; all good for morning coffee and evening aperitifs just quietly taking in the wonderful views. We didn’t use the hot tub as it's not really our thing and weather seemed too hot for that though I suspect if we had stayed longer we may have given it a go one evening with a glass of something delicious and to watch the night sky.
