When you come to Versailles there is an alternative route to the Palace. When you get out of the Versailles Chateau station take a left and then take a right onto this lane. It's much more quiet!

One of the stops on the Discover Versailles: the City tour is this cute little park. It is a place where locals come to read and enjoy the sun. And now the roses have just come out, it is more beautiful then ever! Happy weekend to you all!

Versailles houses many historic buildings, but one thing that makes it so lovely to discover is all the greenery. Here are some pictures of La Pièce d'Eaux des Suisses, my favourite picnic spot and part of the Discover Versailles: the City Tour.

One of the hidden places and a true beauty is the Antique Area of Versailles. My husband and I discovered it in our first week here and have since then visit it again at least once a month. This charming area holds small shops filled with treasures: Louis XVI furniture, golden frames, paintings, books and jewelry. There are also several shops with second hand watches (we found one ourselves in these shops).
Open Thursday to Sunday

And last but not least, there is the most cosy Italian restaurant situated in the area: Little Italy. Truely wonderful and amazing food!

Discover Versailles: the City is about showing you what this little, but oh-so-beautiful city has to offer on top of its palace. The city is of great historical importance and this shows immediately when walking on its streets.

For the past 1,5 years, Versailles is my new hometown. Since then, one of my favorite things is wandering around and discovering the hidden spots, the little places of beauty and discovering what each place is about. My friends and family were surprised to see how much Versailles has to offer and I would like to show it to you too!

On this page I'll be posting pictures & insider tips about the city of Louis XIV and Marie-Antoinnette.
