Bois y Sgwar finished their corner to corner ride this weekend — 196 miles from Point of Ayr to St Davids Cathedral, all for Sandy Bear. Third year running they've taken on a challenge like this, and third year running they've backed it up. Good to have them stop through Ty Cwch on the way. TY CWCH BOATHOUSE. Great for a small group, not just a big one. Ty Cwch is usually booked out by groups of up to 12 people in the Summer. It works just as well for 4 though — one pod, private, sharing the kitchen and living space downstairs with whoever else happens to be staying, which in September and October might be no one. Bois y Sgwar have been putting the miles in ahead of Saturday's start. 196 miles across Wales isn't something you turn up to cold, and this group know it — third year in a row they've taken on a challenge like this for charity. This time it's Sandy Bear, supporting children through bereavement. They set off from Point of Ayr on the 4th, finishing at St Davids Cathedral. We'll be seeing them partway through, at Ty Cwch.

Bois Y Sgwar Corner to Corner Cycle Ride 2026
3 days to go before Bois y Sgwar set off on the corner to corner ride. Point of Ayr to St Davids Cathedral, 196 miles, nearly 14,000 feet of climbing, three days on the bike. They'll be stopping with us at Ty Cwch on the way through. If you can spare anything for Sandy Bear before they start, now's the time — every donation before the off means one less mile they're doing it for nothing.

The off-season plus enjoyed by the locals.
Cwmtydu is the beach people from Cardigan and Aberaeron go to when they want to avoid the tourists. Sand, pebbles, a river running into the sea, seals offshore, and in autumn, almost nobody there. Ty Cwch is a two-minute walk from it.
It's where the local choose, two minutes from your pod.

Ride weekend, 4–6 September
Bois y Sgwar set off this weekend on their corner to corner ride — Point of Ayr to St Davids Cathedral, 196 miles, for Sandy Bear. Eight riders, one support team, three days. Part of the route brings them through Cwmtydu and a night at Ty Cwch. If you're on the coast path this weekend and see a group of cyclists who look like they've earned a pint, that's them.

Bois Y Sgwar Corner to Corner Cycle Ride 2026
196 miles across Wales in a weekend is a serious ask, especially for a group who'd be the first to say they're not as young as they used to be. This is Bois y Sgwar's third year doing this — the Welsh 3 Peaks in 2024, the Pembrokeshire coast by bike in 2025, both raised over £5000 for local charities. This year the target is £10,000, for Sandy Bear, who support children who've lost a parent or sibling.
