✈️ Edinburgh–Philadelphia route extended into winter

American Airlines has confirmed that Scotland’s only direct service between Edinburgh and Philadelphia International Airport will now operate beyond the summer season, running daily from 29 March through to early January.

For Munro’s Travel clients, this extension adds valuable year-round transatlantic capacity, supporting crew rotations and project travel to the US East Coast, with onward connections across North America.

The airline will also operate a daily Edinburgh– John F. Kennedy International Airport - JFK service for the full summer season, further strengthening transatlantic options from Scotland.

As always, our team will factor this additional capacity into route planning to ensure reliable, efficient journeys for energy, marine and renewables workforces.

If you’d like to discuss how this route could support upcoming travel requirements, please speak to your Munro’s Travel account team.

Day 8 of snow in Aberdeen – and challenging conditions continue across Europe.

Wintry weather and Storm Goretti are causing ongoing disruption to both rail and air travel across the UK and mainland Europe. Yellow and amber weather warnings remain in place, with delays and cancellations affecting rail services across England, Scotland and Wales, alongside low visibility impacting flights.

Arriving flights are currently being regulated at London Heathrow Airport, with knock-on delays expected to departures. Similar weather-related restrictions are in place at Schiphol, Geneva and Zurich Airports to name a few, where high delays are being reported.

For travellers, this means late changes, extended journey times and increased uncertainty.

For us, it means staying alert, available and proactive — monitoring conditions in real time and supporting our clients and their travellers as plans evolve.

In disruptive conditions like these, experience, continuity and duty of care matter more than ever.

Extreme winter weather doesn’t just disrupt travel — it tests the systems and people behind it.
Across the north of Scotland, heavy snowfall has been recorded with accumulations up to 40cm falling over recent days, contributing to widespread travel disruption on roads, rail and at regional airports. Amber and yellow weather warnings for snow and ice from the Met Office remain in force as conditions persist.
Major international hubs are also feeling the impact of the severe conditions. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport alone has cancelled around 450 flights due to snow and ice, affecting schedules and connections across Europe.
With such disruption unfolding, our priority has been clear: support our clients and their travelling workforce at every stage. Our teams responded by increasing emergency cover, bringing in additional on-call staff and working through the night to re-route journeys, manage delays and keep travellers informed as situations evolved.
For us, service means showing up when it matters most — quietly, reliably and with our clients’ people at the centre of every decision.
