Updated Travel Alert – Middle East Travel Disruption
Due to the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, significant travel disruption continues across the region. Multiple countries including the UAE, Qatar, Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Iran have closed their airspace following recent military strikes, resulting in widespread flight cancellations, diversions and airport closures with next official reviews expected on Monday 2nd March.
Our emergency Out of Hours (OOH) provider is currently experiencing an unprecedented volume of calls and enquiries, and has escalated operations to Code Red, their highest alert level. In response, we activated our internal disaster recovery measures, adding additional team members to our Saturday shift, and opened today Sunday 1st March, 1000–1600 to support the increased demand.
Our team has worked diligently to identify all imminent departures and impacted passengers, securing alternative itineraries where possible, though options remain extremely limited due to ongoing airspace closures and large scale flight cancellations.
Advice for Travellers
• Check the status of your flight directly with your airline before travelling to the airport, as schedules remain highly fluid.
• Ensure your contact details are updated via the “Manage My Booking” sections on airline portals.
• Allow additional time, expect significant delays, and prepare for short notice changes.
UK Government Advice
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has updated guidance for UK nationals, with many parts of the Middle East now under “advise against all but essential travel” or “do not travel” advisories. UK citizens currently in affected countries are strongly encouraged to:
• Register their details via Register Your Presence, enabling the UK government to provide timely updates and support.
• Follow all local instructions, remain indoors when advised, and monitor official FCDO travel advisories.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this complex and evolving situation.
