We had another great trip out this morning, which started with flat calm conditions. The cloud was lying low as we set off and Beinn Resipol was hiding but later in the trip the sun won through and with a bit of a breeze, the low cloud moved on and we had stunning views of all 3 peaks on Loch Sunart (Beinn Resipol, Beinn Laga and Beinn Hiant).

There was plenty of wildlife including a White-Tailed Eagle, Great Northern Diver, Black Throated Diver, and Guillemots, Canada Geese, Oystercatchers and Seals. The Grey Herons look to still be busy building their nests and were flying in and out of the Heronry.

We're back to windy conditions for a few days now so we're keeping fingers crossed for some calmer weather next week!

A weather window on Thursday morning allowed us to head out on our first boat trip of the season. It was great to be back out on the water and we were able to catch up with all the wildlife. There are plenty of birds passing through at the moment including Guillemots and Mergansers. The Canada and Greylag Geese are back and the Grey Herons have started building/repairing their nests. The Shags are in their breeding plumage and many other birds are now starting to pair up ready for breeding. We caught sight of a couple of the White-Tailed Eagles, much to everyone's excitement.

This was one of the rare trips where there was snow on the hills and Beinn Resipol looked stunning, although it's top was shrouded in cloud.

We're looking forward to watching the colours change on the loch as we head into Spring and seeing the new wildlife arrivals over the next few months.

It was lovely and calm today for our boat trip, with plenty of sunshine although it was cool at times when the sun went in. We had the heater on in the cabin to allow our guests to warm up if needs be and this was very welcome. At one point we had a small shower and this created an amazing double rainbow just behind the boat. The Autumn colours are amazing out on the loch at the moment and particularly when its sunny the scenery is stunning.

There was lots of wildlife around and unbelievably we are still seeing Dolphins although they were busy feeding today. We caught a couple of White-Tailed Eagles in flight and one was skimming just above the water, which showed the sheer size of these birds. We had some very excited guests onboard who had been coming up here for years and never managed to see an Eagle at close quarters so they were delighted - lots of photo opportunities!

There are plenty of Guillemots in the loch at the moment along with the Great Northern Divers making a return. Lots of deer were on the hilltops and the Red Deer Stags who had returned to the shoreline were looking rather tired after the rut!

Here's a few photos of our adventures today.

WOW!!

From being extremely quiet on the wildlife front, we arrived towards the entrance to the loch today and discovered an amazing feeding frenzy going on. There was so much activity that we didn't know where to look next! On our left were 2 White-Tailed Eagles sat on a rock, and as they flew off another one joined them, leaving a 4th one sat at the top of the hill. We'd spotted dolphins as we approached and we ended up with lots of different pods dancing around and interacting with us from all sides. Not too far in the distance we also spotted a Minke Whale which kept majestically surfacing - this is the first time we've spotted one while on our trips so there was lots of excitement. The sea was also alive with hundreds of birds, not something we usually see in Loch Sunart and we identified Guillemots, Gannets, and lots of different types of gulls to name but a few. The shags were in abundance everywhere on the loch and a couple of the Red Deer Stags had returned from the hills.

The autumn colours and lighting on the loch were amazing today and we were treated to a vivid rainbow as we returned up the loch - luckily we missed the shower which must have caused this!

Here's a few photos of our adventures along with a video of some of the dolphins as we headed back up the loch. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get any good video of the Minke Whale as it was busy feeding but what an amazing sight. Still seeing Dolphins at this time of year is brilliant and we've been seeing them on most trips now since mid July which is very unusual. lets hope they stay a little bit longer!

A change in the weather forecast this morning led to a very damp trip but our guests were still keen to head out. There were plenty of visits into the wheelhouse to warm up but everyone enjoyed the trip.

There was no shortage of wildlife with 6 White-Tailed Eagles being seen, including a couple of Juveniles. Two of them were spotted circling over the loch and we got good views of them soaring around for a few minutes. Sadly I wasn't able to get a good photo of the youngsters but it's great to see them flourishing in the area.

Here's a few photos of todays adventures and let's hope we get a bit of an improvement in the weather over the next few days!

What an amazing week we've had with the Dolphins and their young still visiting the boat and performing their brilliant acrobatics as well as swimming alongside us. They've been the highlight of our trips recently for all our guests so we're hoping that they'll stay a bit longer 🐬🐬.

There have also been numerous sightings of the White-Tailed Eagles and both pairs are busy minding their youngsters. Until this week we hadn't found one of the fledglings but we were sure that there was one, so it was amazing to find it hiding in a tree a few days ago. The adults have given us numerous fly-bys as well as perching close to the shoreline on the rocks, which makes spotting them much easier.

Here's a few photos and a video of this week's adventures - hope you enjoy looking at them!

The dolphins are still around in the loch and it's quite rare to see them for such a long and sustained period. We've seen them on all our trips over the last 3 weeks and everyone has been enthralled with the acrobatics.
Getting video footage has been quite difficult but today they decided to surf in our wake, with others performing acrobatics a little bit further away.
Hope you enjoy the video - we're hoping that they'll stay a bit longer yet 🐬🐬

It's been another great week for the boat trips with it being very warm earlier in the week and its looking settled for the next few days too.

The dolphins have been around now for around 3 weeks and it's quite unusual for us to see them for such a prolonged period so let's hope that they decide that Loch Sunart is a fun place to be! They've been very active and have been enthralling everyone with their acrobatics. One of the White-Tailed Eagle chicks was spotted earlier in the week and our guests were amazed at the size of it.

Here's a few photos of our adventures over the past few days.

Another brilliant trip out this morning. One of the White-Tailed Eagles was watching us but had got itself camouflaged into a tree and was quite a distance away. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a photo of the second one, but it was a lot closer and gave us a couple of fly-bys. The Dolphins have been hanging round in the loch now for a couple of weeks and it was brilliant to catch up with them again today. Once more they were thrilling everyone with their acrobatics.

There were a few Porpoises around along with many birds including the Eider Ducks, Mergansers, Guillemots, Grey Herons, Common Terns, and Shags to name but a few.

The scenery was as usual amazing and while the sun unfortunately didn't show its face it was reasonably warm. We'll hope that the weather keeps behaving after the storm earlier this week and we hope to welcome you all on board soon.

It was an amazing trip yesterday on Mingary with lots of excitement from our guests.

We saw 6 White-Tailed Eagles including 2 newly fledged youngsters, Dolphins put on a couple of shows for us around the loch and a C-130 Hercules passenger plane headed up the loch just alongside us! There's been lots of plane/helicopter activity lately, with 2 Chinook helicopters heading over Salen Bay mid-week and a C-130 plane just skimming over the top of our house a few days ago.

There's lots of wildlife around in Loch Sunart at the moment and the scenery is amazing. We're delighted that there are some Juvenile White-Tailed Eagles around. The seals have also had lots of pups and the raft of Eider Ducks has grown considerably, along with the huge numbers of geese, Common Terns and Grey Herons. The dolphins have been hanging around now for a couple of weeks and when we catch up with them, it's very entertaining to watch their acrobatics. Let's hope that they stay in the loch for a bit longer 🐬🐬

We've been out on more excellent trips over the last few days with amazing weather over the weekend . Loch Sunart is a beautiful loch but with blue skies and sunshine it looks even more amazing.

We've had some great sightings of the White-Tailed Eagles, where they've often been sitting in our favourite tree, so our guests get an excellent view and it also provides a great background for photos. There's been plenty of other wildlife around including Seals with their pups, Red Deer Stags, Mergansers, Greylag Geese, Common Terns, Red-Throated Diver, Black Guillemots and Porpoises.

Thanks for all our lovely guests for heading out with us and we hope to see you soon.
