On our safari yesterday we saw lots of lovely wildlife but the highlight was this beautiful Small Pearl-Bordered Fritillary - the first one we've seen this year and the first record on our rewilding project at Bac Dubh!

I'm looking for a stunning, high-resolution photo of an otter to print on a banner for Wild Ewe Safaris (since our logo is an otter!) Any nature photographers out there who would be able to help? Please get in touch if so! Many thanks.

Otters are resident here in Wester Ross, but it’s a rare privilege to see one. However they do leave telltale signs behind! We found this otter spraint on our walk along the River Ewe this morning. From the bits of shell it looks like the otter has had a tasty meal of crab! If you’d like to learn more about otters and arm yourself with the knowledge for the best chance of seeing them, book our ‘How To Watch Wild Otters’ safari. Details on our website www.wildewe.com

What a beautiful morning! Worth the 4am start for our dawn chorus safari. If you turn up the sound you can hear the cuckoo amongst other birds 😀

Have you ever dreamed of seeing a wild otter?

If you're really lucky you might just spot one when you're out and about, but in reality, seeing one of these shy, elusive creatures is a rare privilege.

That's why we run our 'How To Watch Wild Otters' masterclass - an hour-long workshop where you'll learn all about these fascinating creatures and arm yourself with the skills and knowledge for the best chance of spotting one.

If you're in the Gairloch and Loch Ewe area this week, we are running a masterclass on Wednesday May 7th at 11am in Poolewe. You can book by emailing us on [email protected], phoning on 07592 614403 or visit our stall at Poolewe Tuesday Market tomorrow, Tuesday May 6th.

Can you spot the well camouflaged dragonfly in the photo? It’s a four-spot chaser, they are one of the earliest dragonflies to hatch and we saw it this morning on our walk. Clue in the comments if you can’t see it! If you’d like to book a safari with one of our eagle-eyed guides, visit our website www.wildewe.com or catch us at Poolewe Tuesday Market tomorrow!

The sun is shining, the cuckoo is calling, blackcap and chiffchaff singing, and we found our first heath-spotted orchid of the year out in flower on the moorland this afternoon - Spring is definitely here!

An unexpected find on our How To Watch Wild Otters workshop this morning, not an otter, but a huge skate! Sadly washed up dead and rather decayed but what an impressive beast, it’s 1.9 metres from nose tip to tail tip!

All set up at Poolewe Tuesday Market, come and say hello if you’re in the area!
