❓ Did you know we have a sculpture created by Barbara Hepworth in Chesterfield?

You can see Rosewall on Future Walk as you head into Queen's Park. We've recently completed some periodic conservation work on the sculpture, and it looks magnificent.

Today we remember all those who fought and sacrificed themselves for their country and the promise of a better future.

The Hardwick Estate has strong ties to veterans in the Second World War as the lower parkland was home to the troops of the first Para Regiment camp. A whole village was built to house the soldiers during training including a gymnasium, a cookhouse, cinema and medical facility.

After the war, the army village housed European veterans who fought with the allied forces, predominately Polish soldiers. It was here at Hardwick they started their new lives in England and many settled in the local areas.

Today we remember them. 🕊️
