And just like that… Jamie is off to a new land. 🇮🇹 While he is concerned for us that we are choosing to explore this new country, and perhaps questioning why, he is excited to taste gelato for the first time, drink some local house wine, enjoy a slower pace of life, and wondering if any stones in Italy will transport him back to his beloved homeland.

When we started Choose Happy Travels we had no idea if it would take off. It was a whim of an idea after I returned from Scotland in 2023 and asked Marg if she wanted to lead a retreat with me there in 2024. Her “Heck Yes!” was all we needed. Within one week of putting out an early-bird waitlist, we had 45 people on it. That first Scotland retreat sold out in 6 days on waitlist only. 4 Sold out Scotland trips, one sold Italy and more to come. Oregon is on the docket for June 2027.. then Portugal.

Some dreams seem delusional, lofty, maybe even mad, and if you’re willing to take a chance, you just might find… it is all possible.

Sometimes we internally argue with what we already know. Sometimes what felt safe is now keeping you stuck.

The desires of the soul are not mistakes. The longings are not random. They are often invitations into a fuller expression of who you are becoming.

We spend so much time talking ourselves out of what calls to us because it doesn’t make sense, feels impractical, or asks us to step beyond what is familiar. Yet the things that keep tugging at your heart rarely disappear.

Maybe the longing is not something to suppress, fix, or explain away.

Maybe it is something to listen to.

Trust the pull. It knows something your mind has not caught up to yet.

You know the views. Where the words just stop and all you can do is stand there and let it move through you. No caption could hold it. No photo will do it justice. You just breathe it in and let it become part of you.

That is the reason we do this. There is nothing like witnessing that moment of wonder land on someone’s face for the first time.

Finally starting to pack for Italy. Asher and Willow have their opinions about all of this. What isn’t shown is Asher putting himself under the covers and throwing my clothes off the bed then jumping back up proud of himself, and falling asleep. He always makes it well known how he feels about me leaving.

What also isn’t shown is the ridiculous amount of overpacking and then taking about half out of the piles.

Anyone else an overpacker? Marg and I both always bring too much.

(Yes, whisky while packing. Because why not? Don’t judge.)

The most beautiful destinations don’t just change your view. They change what you see in yourself. When a place calls to you, it may not be the destination drawing you in.

It may be a future version of yourself waiting there.

The version who laughs more.
Dreams bigger.
Lives more fully.
