Perfect for an evening drink after a day out exploring Northumberland.

🧱 Walk the walls of Berwick

If you're visiting Berwick upon Tweed, why not take a walk around the historic town walls?

They're surprisingly high in places, with plenty to see along the way, including coastal views, old buildings and even the odd cannon!

From our cottages, Berwick is around a 30-minute drive away.

🗺️ More to explore...

Hidden away near Duddo, the Duddo Stones are a fascinating prehistoric stone circle, thought to be around 4,000 years old.

Sometimes called Northumberland’s Stonehenge, the five weathered stones sit on a hilltop with views across the surrounding countryside.

Around 45 minutes from the cottages, they’re well worth combining with a visit to Ford and Etal for a great day out. 😀

The stepper is a great way to get your heart rate up and work your legs, but technique can make a big difference.

🐾 Walks from the doorstep.

Melrose Cottage is located at Townfoot Farm, just outside Shilbottle, with countryside walks right on the doorstep.

Together with Townfoot Cottage next door, it’s a lovely choice for guests who enjoy getting out and exploring with their dog.
