ADVENTURE PREPARATION!

Last week saw Andy visiting some of our awesome schools, meeting the students embarking on adventures with us soon. Facilitating opportunities to explore hopes, motivations, wonderings, concerns and of course kit lists is one of our favourite bits of the whole adventure process. The anticipation of preparation...

From Andy:

"Spending multiple days on adventure means challenge, growth and also permission to shift pace and slow down. In a blind snap survey every student in this group rated ‘pace of life’ as at least 4/5. It was interesting to see so many of them prioritising the. chance to pause and decompress on their own personal journey"

We can't wait to share a mindful adventure with these guys. Challenge? Yes. Growth? Yes. Stopping, BEING where you are and who you are? 100%

Wild in the Peaks

What a week of adventure with awesome students and teachers from

Exploring through sunshine, rain, HAIL, and all sorts these inspiring young humans truly thrived in the wild

Working alongside rangers they restored local flood defences and cleared invasive species

They worked as teams to support each other stretching themselves and growing through the journey

And as result they all achieved their Wild Places Guardian Award

We've been hosting these inspiring and unique adventures on Knoydart every year since 2022. We love building our connection with the local community, and bringing depth for our guests with the same passionate and knowledgeable Leaders returning to lead these magical one-offs year after year.

As always - we welcome solo travellers, groups of friends, partners and any other combo of humans out there. We'll meet you wherever you are, revel in creating a remarkable team, and celebrate sharing a truly wild adventure among the people and peaks of the remarkable wild environment that is Knoydart

🚂 - travel by train over Glenfinnan Viaduct from Fort William - Mallaig (+return)
🐬 - journey by ferry to & from Inverie and look out for loch-living creatures
🏕 - 1 night camped at Long Beach Campsite supporting the Knoydart Foundation
🍴- 1st night dinner at the UKs most remote (and community owned) pub on the mainland - The Old Forge
⛺ - 3 nights wild camping in wild mountain valleys
🏊 - wild swimming in natural pools, rivers and lochs
🏠 - spend your final night in a stunning local hotel, and enjoy a final celebration meal with your new adventure family
🥾- supportive leadership throughout from 2 of our highly qualified and experienced leaders - Emma & Andy

The 24th April 2026 was the 94th anniversary of The Hayfield Kinder Mass Trespass

As a people guided by the importance of access to wild places for the healthy development of young humans (well, all of us really) - Right to Roam is a cause we stand with.

We're a little late to the party but this week we're offering thanks to those folk of 1932 who paved the way for crucial change. However with 92% of land in England still inaccessible to the general public, and the 8% that is accessible often being prohibitively difficult to reach for urban young people, it's clear that if we are to facilitate young people remembering their role as stewards of all things wild - they need to be able to develop a relationship with it.

Right to Roam are on a mission to change that, and we back the change
