September ushers in the lovely Autumnal period, but are you thinking maybe a bit of sunshine to end the year? Each day this month I will post a suggestion of a good destination for the coming months.

1st off is the classic of Tenerife. There's far more to it than the Veronicas strip. Best areas to stay in my opinion are
Costa Adeje – luxury hotels, families and couples, or Puerto de la Cruz – authentic Tenerife with beautiful gardens and culture.

We’ve reached the FINAL TWO of our countdown of 15 of Europe’s Most Spectacular Natural Wonders — and No. 2 is an absolute Icelandic masterpiece.

🥈 NO. 2 — ALDEYJARFOSS, ICELAND 🇮🇸

📍 Northern Iceland

Hidden in the rugged Icelandic Highlands, Aldeyjarfoss is a waterfall that looks almost too perfect to be real.

Powerful white water plunges around 20 metres into a deep pool, surrounded by extraordinary columns of dark basalt. The contrast between the bright, foaming waterfall and the almost-black volcanic rock makes Aldeyjarfoss one of Iceland’s most dramatic sights. 💦🖤

And it’s the basalt columns that really make this place special.

Created by ancient volcanic activity, the geometric rock formations frame the waterfall like a giant natural amphitheatre.

Rising dramatically from the Arctic landscape, Segla is one of Norway’s most spectacular and recognisable mountains. Its distinctive, almost vertical face towers above the sea, creating a view that looks almost unreal.

🇬🇧 NO. 4 — GIANT’S CAUSEWAY, NORTHERN IRELAND 🌊

We’ve reached the Top 4 of our journey through 15 of Europe’s Most Spectacular Natural Wonders — and this one is truly extraordinary.

📍 Giant’s Causeway, County Antrim, Northern Ireland

Along the dramatic Antrim coast, around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns rise from the sea, creating one of the most recognisable natural landscapes in the British Isles.

The columns were formed by ancient volcanic activity around 60 million years ago. As molten lava cooled and contracted, it fractured into the distinctive geometric shapes we see today.

And yes, there’s a legend too! ☘️

According to Irish folklore, the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool) built the causeway as a route to Scotland. Whether you believe the science or the story, standing among those remarkable columns is an unforgettable experience.
