🏆 NUMBER 1! 🏆
We’ve made it. After travelling across Europe and discovering 14 extraordinary landscapes, we’ve reached the No. 1 spot in our countdown of 15 of Europe’s Most Spectacular Natural Wonders.
🥇 NO. 1 — CAMARGUE WETLANDS, FRANCE 🇫🇷
📍 Camargue, Southern France
And what a place to finish.
The Camargue is a vast, wild landscape where wetlands, lagoons, salt flats, marshes and Mediterranean coastline come together in one of Europe’s most remarkable natural environments. 🌾🌊
It’s also famous for its incredible wildlife.
🦩 Flamingos gather in huge numbers across the shallow lagoons, while the region is home to the iconic Camargue white horses and the distinctive black bulls traditionally associated with the area.
This isn't a landscape dominated by towering mountains or dramatic waterfalls.
Its beauty comes from space, wildlife, light and wilderness.
🌅 At sunrise and sunset, the wetlands can become a spectacular patchwork of colours, with birds moving across the skies and horses roaming through the marshes.
🐎 Why No. 1?
✔️ One of Europe's most important wetland landscapes
✔️ Famous wild flamingo colonies
✔️ Iconic free-roaming white horses
✔️ Vast lagoons, marshes and salt flats
✔️ Exceptional birdlife and wildlife
✔️ A wonderfully wild corner of southern France
The Camargue feels like another world — and that's exactly why it deserves the top spot.
🇫🇷 Would you agree with our No. 1, or would you have chosen somewhere else?
