Come Along and Share Your Ideas for the Annan Harbour Maritime Heritage Centre!

We’re inviting local people with a passion for our rich maritime history to share their ideas and stories to help shape our new visitor centre at Annan Harbour.

Do you have-or know of-a historical object that could bring to life our deep connection with the Solway, the High Seas, the river, and the boat-building and seafood industries of Port Street? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Our museum designer, Studio Arc-the team behind the award-winning layout of the Devil’s Porridge Museum-will be present to share their initial design, developed through research and discussions with the Annan Harbour Action Group.

They have identified key themes for the exhibition:
-Time and Tide
-Changing Tides
-Secrets of the River
-Voyagers and Adventurers
-Industrious Annan

There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and input from the community, so come along and have your say!

We’re launching a new volunteer group dedicated to exploring and protecting local wildlife! 🦆🐾

Want to learn how to identify and survey birds and mammals around Annan? Take part in FREE online training with the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and join us for monthly Wetland Bird & Mammal Surveys in our local area.

📅 Training Dates:
15th April, 7-7:45PM - Bird Identification for Beginners
22nd April, 7-7:45PM - Bird Survey Techniques for Experienced Participants
29th April, 7-7:45PM - Mammal Identification

Step into the spirit of the season with our Winter Solstice Walk and Celebration!

✨ Forging Workshop with Annan The History Town Group – craft your own unique metalwork (2:00 - 7:30 PM)
🚌 A bus will run from Annan Harbour to Newbie (3:45 – 5:15 PM).
🔥 A bonfire will be lit before the procession begins at 5:30 PM
✨ Torchlit Walk from Barnkirk Point to Annan Harbour (5:30-6:30PM), accompanied by The Solway Pipers.
✨ Refreshments will be served to bring the evening to a festive close
🎻Festive music and carols by Spectrum

We are busily preparing for what promises to be a vibrant community event, and we’d love for you to join us. With less than a month to go, excitement is building for a fantastic day at Annan Harbour!

Enjoy live music, a variety of stalls featuring local farmers, producers, and crafters, as well as cooking demonstrations, workshops, and green initiatives. There will be plenty of activities for the little ones too, including face painting, a bouncy castle, fly fishing, and much more!

We are very sorry but the race tomorrow has had to be cancelled due to dangerous high water levels.🌊🚣‍♀️

The procession from Midsteeple will leave at 2pm and ALL the brilliant activities on Mill Green will take place as planned from 2-5pm. Good weather is forecast! ☀️
