It’s been a bit quiet on our social of late. The Carter Team has been very busy preparing your tours and making sure we can do all we can to assure you have a brilliant time.

During the recent bank holiday weekend we all ventured out into The Cotswolds to do some much needed walking and time away from our desks. Needless to say, the temperatures got to us a little bit but what a lovely weekend that was!

There are a multitude of historical buildings in the UK that date back centuries and form an integral part of the beauty in the landscape you walk or cycle through on our tours. Their crooked and ancient doors, single pane windows and sometimes slightly off kilter facades betraying the test of time on its foundations. When you look at some of them , you can almost 'hear' them sighing under the pressure.

Did you know that the oldest building in England dates back to 597 AD and is located in Canterbury? Funnily enough it is not the cathedral but St Martin’s Church founded by St Augustine himself!

The iconic 🌟Coast to Coast🌟 path connecting St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay has now officially been designated as a National Trail. Over 5 million pounds worth of investments have been spent to make the trail an even more wonderful experience such as this incredible Coast to Coast halfway marker - designed and carved by Chris Swales from Swales in the Dales stonemasons. It was unveiled at the official Coast to Coast Path National Trail launch last week, and is now in position!

We have organised our Luxury Coast to Coast tours for about 8 years now and we're sure that our customers who are walking the trail this year (either in one go or split into sections), will enjoy all the improvements made. The fantastic scenery will do the rest.

We very much enjoyed the new BBC series 🌟The Other Bennet Sister🌟, a period drama that reimagines Pride and Prejudice from Mary Bennet’s perspective. We especially enjoyed the episodes filmed in the Lake District, a firm favourite holiday destination here in the office, and we fully agree with Mary Bennet that the lakes are nothing short of magical... 📸🌟

This is a picture of Susan and Richard who climbed Helvellyn in 2024 (optional feature on our tours) with Carter Company guide Hugh who knows the area like his back pocket. Both Susan and Richard are huge fans of the Lake District and try to visit the area as much as they can.

Its mighty Fells and lakes are a sight to behold so get in touch if you want to go see them for yourself, either on a bike or in walking boots.

🌟English Tourism Week🌟 starts today, highlighting the multitude of touristic attraction points England has to offer and the wonderful contribution the industry makes to the county as a whole. Tourism sustains communities, small business (like ours) and brings much needed income for many shops, bike rental companies, taxi drivers, small and large hotels, restaurants and cafes, and many more.

We thought that the best tribute was to put our lovely customers on a pedestal who have enjoyed discovering all the wonderful corners of England. They shared some of these pictures during their tours with the Carter Company and we are just so grateful to see their smiling faces. We know a thing or 2 about castles... and we just ❤️ putting them on our itineraries. Did you know that the UK have over 4,000 castles ranging from ruins to fully restored fortresses? And then there are the vast amounts to be enjoyed in France, Portugal or Spain. Each one of them holding a fascinating history and stories about the ones who built them, lived in them and sometimes destroyed them.

Dy Gool Peran Lowen!! Today is St Piran's Day, Cornwall’s national day honouring its patron saint and the brave tin miners who started digging for minerals as far as 2100 BC during the Bronze Age and continued to do so until the late 20th century.

Cornwall is such a diverse and stunning place to visit. There really aren't enough pictures we can share here that can showcase the diversity in landscape, culture and its beauty... I guess you'll have to go see it for yourself! 📸🧳🚲🥾
