📣 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 ⁉️ ✈️Many airlines and airports are now warning of severe travel disruptions resulting in many people missing their flights!
♦️The primary cause of these delays is the full implementation of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which becomes mandatory across the Schengen Area by 10 April 2026.
🔸️Biometric Checks: All non-EU citizens, including British nationals, must now have their fingerprints and facial images scanned upon entry.
🔸️Increased Wait Times: Trade bodies have reported that border crossing times are deteriorating, with peak waits reaching two to four hours at major hubs.
🔸️Other Factors: Air traffic control strikes in France and industrial action in Spain (specifically affecting Groundforce workers) are contributing to broader regional travel chaos.

🔸️Arrive Early: While the standard advice is two hours, many experts now suggest arriving at least three hours before your scheduled departure, four to be safe at busier airports.
🔸️Head to Security Immediately: Do not linger in the terminal; proceed through security and passport control as soon as possible.
🔸️Bag Drop: If you have hold luggage, go to the Bag Drop desk as soon as it opens.
🔸️Monitor Boarding: Move to your gate the moment it is announced, as additional checks may occur before the gate area.
♦️Many arrivals are also being reported to have long passport control delays. Additional checks are causing severe waiting times, sometimes hours to get through security.
🔸️If you have a pre-arranged transfer pickup ensure you have the driver details to keep them updated that you have arrived, and where you are. This will avoid them leaving or you incurring additional charges while they wait.
Don't get caught out! Be prepared & aware this holiday season 🌞 Don't let delays ruin the start of your trip away!
