Early March our lovely clients Anna and Ross walked our 🌟CHILTERNS CHALK AND CHEESE🌟 tour. This stunning county has been the setting of many movies and television shows and it is not hard to see why. The stunning beach at Eype, West Bay, Bridport harbour, The Folly on West Quay were all locations featured in the Broadchurch series which kept Britain on the edge of their tv seat until the season's finale. Dipping into the film archive for Thomas Hardy's novels, we can see Lulworth Cove and Weymouth but also the huge Tithe Barn at Abbotsbury as the location for the drunken harvest supper in the adaptation for Far From the Madding Crowd. 📸🎥

The Swannery at Abbotsbury provided the location for the Weasley’s family home ‘The Burrow’ in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Chesil Beach, the 2007 adaptation of Ian McEwan's masterpiece featuring Saoirse Ronan, was filmed on the actual 18-mile stretch of shingle bank featured in the picture above. 🎥🌟

And a tribute to Mary Anning is the movie Ammonite, staring Kate Winslet as the fossil hunter Mary Anning. Lyme Regis and scenery of the Jurassic Coast are featured in abundance in the movie.

The Lake District has more than a few connections to famous movies and TV dramas. Scenes of Derwentwater appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Nextflix series Missing You and the newly released Bridget Jones - Mad About The Boy. You will also definitely recognise Ambleside, Coniston and general Lake District scenery in the Miss Potter movie starring Renée Zellwegger. 📸🎥

Rydal Caves and other areas local to Grasmere feature in season two of The Witcher and the wartime drama The Windermere Children and the ITV Drama Deep Water were set close to Windermere Lake. Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron can be seen in the area of Langdale in the blockbuster Snow White and the Huntsman and the zombie movie 28 Days Later features scenes of Ennerdale. The 1988 movie Without A Clue stars Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson was almost exclusively filmed in the Lake District. 📸🎥
