**Edit - the gaffers lost the plot. It was 6-0 and he completely dreamt up a fourth for Ruairi!
A good day on the road for the Campsie boys today, coming down the road with a convincing 6-0 victory.
Being able to welcome back our talisman Ruairi Convy alongside his bronzed Adonis sidekick Ross Bothwell was a massive positive for the lads and we controlled the game from the first whistle with Ruairi causing no ends of issues for the Craigneuk backline.
It didn’t take long to open the scoring when our auld pal ‘own goal’ popped up in the 4th minute with their 5th goal of the campaign after Ruairi weaved his way through the backline to deliver a powerful low ball into the box, which cannoned off the Craigneuk defender and into the net.
Naturally, Ruairi tried to claim it for himself but he was able to firmly get himself on the score sheet 3 minutes later when he broke the back line and slotted away to make it 2-0.
Suddenly Ruairi decided he was gubbed and wanted off for a bit and we asked Dec (sponsorship available) to push up one and play in an unfamiliar position. However, he more than took his opportunity slotting away a fantastic finish to make it 3-0 after 41 minutes.
By this time, Ruairi had decided he was ok and moaned to the bench to get back on (we put him back on because we couldn’t be arsed listening to him anymore tbh) and he made it 4-0 on the stroke of half time.
With this turning into the Convy show, the heed nip bagged his hat trick on 65.
It looked like it would end up 5-0. However, a fantastically worked throw in in the dying embers allowed Scott McDonald to get on the end of it and make it 6.
A fantastic performance, front to back, with everyone contributing to a solid display.
Onto next week when we welcome Coatbridge United to High Park, for the third of our four vetting fixtures, as we continue our quest to get into the Warriors Football Association next season.
