How stunning are these two? The incredible Jen and Lizzie whom I had the absolute privilege of marrying last month at one of my favourite local venues, the The Gailes Hotel & Spa. We first met at a wedding fayre there in 2023 and immediately hit it off.....and I suspect will remain friends. I wish them a long, happy and healthy future together.
What an amazing job I have!

Wow! What a fabulous mid summer's day to marry the brilliant Andy and Cristina in a very personal ceremony at stunning Portencross Castle on the Ayrshire coast.. They might look very Scottish here, but originally being from Romania, many of their lovely guests were from there, where the soltice is also traditionally celebrated.
It was also world Humanist Day. In their words, ' We found Humanism resonates with our values and views of the world around equality, respect and dignity and our first meeting with our celebrant Janet was so genuine'.
My pleasure!!

โ€œHumanist funerals puts the deceased and their life story right at the heart of proceedings, which is exactly where they should be. Working with bereaved families to create a unique and person-centred celebration of life is hugely meaningful. It can hopefully make an extremely difficult time that little bit easier for everyone.โ€

This Monday, say hello to Morag, one of our new humanist funeral celebrants ๐Ÿ‘‹

Morag Macintosh is now a registered Humanist Society Scotland funeral celebrant and joins our dedicated team providing humanist funeral and memorial ceremonies for her community in Alness, Scottish Highlands.

We caught up with Morag to get to know her a bit more and find out what humanism and being a humanist funeral celebrant means to her.

To mark , we have launched a free online tool called These Are My Wishes. It enables people at any stage of their life to record practical decisions about what they would like to happen after they die.

The online form aims to support individuals to start important discussions with loved ones and encourage more open conversations around death. Have you ever thought about how youโ€™d like your life to be celebrated? For example, what songs would you like played at your funeral? Would you like to be buried or cremated? Where would you like your ashes to be scattered?

This might not be something you have considered before, and it may seem a little daunting. But recording your wishes is one of the most thoughtful things you can do for your friends and family.

You can learn more and share your wishes on the Humanist Society Scotland website (link in replies)

LOVE WEDDINGS

It is such pleasure to work with couples, all of whom are different, and want their ceremony to be special, meaningful and a genuine reflection of who they are and what their hopes and wishes are for their future. These have taken place at venues from beaches and cottages to castles and five star hotels, and every one has been a pleasure and a privilege to undertake.

I would describe my style as informal and relaxed. I want every couple and their guests to have a very happy and memorable experience of the ceremony, one that is full of love and laughter and which sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Although based in Ayr, home of โ€˜honest men and bonnie lassesโ€™ I am happy to cover weddings anywhere in Ayrshire and the south west, Glasgow and the central belt, Arran, Kintyre and beyond. I am now into my fifth year of being a wedding celebrant and have loved every single ceremony I have taken. What a wonderful job I have!!!!
