What a wonderful day on our Peak Pooch Pilgrimage with dog blessing. Pilgrim pals and canine companions miraculously avoided the storm and enjoyed each other's company tremendously.

Our next Mills & Martyrs Pilgrimage is 12 September on Open Heritage Day. Why not join us? https://hopewalking.co.uk/mills-martyrs-peak-district-pilgrimage

lt clearly takes a village to raise a Camino pilgrim whose knee joints🦵are playing up.

Meet Dolph, a knee rehab specialist at Eley Fitness who is helping me build up everything around the knee.

And Bakewell physio Graham who is giving me strengthening🦿 exercises.

🚶‍♀️I believe I can walk the kilometres... all 875 of them.
🗓I believe I can walk for 40 days.
🛌I believe I can move beds 35 times.
🎒I believe I can carry my pack at 8 kilos.
☀️ I believe I can keep going through the heat.
⛰️ But I really don't know if my knees will allow me to manage the 1200m cumulative mountainous ascents and descents some days.

I will give it my best shot.
For The Magnificents.
For Gabi
For my 60th.

If you would like to contribute to the Gabi Memorial Education Fund for Africa's Gift, the link is on my blog here. THANK YOU ALL 💛💛

Pilgrimage is definitely having a moment, I am happy to say.

Reflective walking in nature with intention is NOT just for 'the religious' (I happen to wince at that term anyway). It's for ANYONE of any or no faith who wishes to step away from the daily routine of chores, screens, caring to spend time with themselves and others in the peace and beauty of nature. Powerful, transformative time.

Each year for the past three years I have been transformed inside and out by my experiences on pilgrimage.
🚶‍♀️My first 100km Portuguese Central Camino with WalkingWomen
🚶‍♀️Led to my second 700km solo Camino Portuguese Coastal
🚶‍♀️Led to my third and fourth Ingles and Muxia-Finisterre last year.
🚶‍♀️And now this year my greatest challenge yet,875km Camino Del Norte.

I need this annual reset. My mind, body and spirit thank me for the whole year.

Here in the stunning Peak District National Park, I can offer you a taste of Pilgrimage that may just start that process of transformation...

All my pilgrimages are on the Hope Walking website, so in calendar order:

👣26 August Shorter Dog Friendly Mills & Martyrs
👣12 September 8.5 mile Mills & Martyrs on National Heritage Open Day
👣Again on 31 October All Hallow’s Eve for anyone, but with a focus on unburdening grief and loss.
